If you cut 5MG into sixths, you get about .85 MG. However, you will see that in the process, some loss of the original tab occurs. So, I ESTIMATE that I am left with about .7 but it could be higher or lower.

That's why you go for 5ths and stay at the 1mg recommended dosage! :)

To me, it is a preference issue. If you look at the data on dosage, it is hard to make the argument that 1.0 is "better" than .7 or so.

Moreover, I would like to see you cut this pill into 5 equal parts!

Nah it's okay, I'm too lazy for that, I just slice a Propecia in half and I'm done for the next 2 days.

New on .5MG propecia

I have never posted on this thing before. I started on .5mg of propecia about 3 weeks ago. I decided to cut the pill in half because of a fear of the side effects. so far everything is good, my balls hurt the second day, but that promptly went away. has anyone else tried this regimen. I am also using rogain

This should work. Many of us are on less than 1MG per day.

Good luck

Hey i got lucky with my doctor,he prescribed "proscar" with 4 refills.. and it was covered by insurance.. so now i pay $0 for my proscar/propecia.

I have a question for anyone who is experienced or has any advice on how to do this regimen i am doing so far it's going okay and it know it's too soon to see results started may 6th so way too soon.

1.25 mg of proscar
Wash hair with progaine just to get scalp ready
Next i apply 5 % minoxidil... i use alot with NO irritation... i drench it i know it wont work any better/worse but i apply alot. 4-5 hours later i apply azelaic acid (azelex),then about 1 hour before bed i apply.. the minoxidil again, then head to bed. MY question is i want to add .025 retina 1 x a day i wanted to know how LONG after applying minoxidil can i apply the retin-a? Or should i apply retin-a first?? I am very confused... i can use the minoxidil then the azelex,4-5 hours seems like a good time to seperate them,i've read it takes about 4 hours for minoxidil to settle in so is it possible to apply the azelex 1x and the retina .. how long apart apply before or after? You guys give great advice and i read every post ...you guys do even the jokes that fly around. SO i stop repeating myself.. when should retin-a be applied before or after minoxidil and if so how far apart? OH one other question/comment.. I ordered the rogaine/retin-a /topicals applicator.. looks like small suction cups from Forest labatories. i should be getting it today they claim so a doctor does that 50 % of the rogaine is absorbed in our hands and less goes on the scalp.. is this bullcrap? It's only $8 for the applicator.. anyone use this? Also could i apply the azelex right after or before applying minoxidil? Or waiting the 4-5 hours is a good idea? I just want to inscrease the absorbation rate of the rogaine and the azelex.

NO to forget i use NIzoral 2 % 3 X a week.

Sorry for the long post.. will post pictures soon when i feel some results good/bad can be seen.

All the best guys,
Rich

Ugh, you DON'T need all that minoxidil. It can ONLY do you bad.

Why don't people listen to us?

Other than that it sounds good to me.

I would back up on the qty of minoxidil. An overdose of that stuff can be very difficult and it does not happen right away.

Use as directed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you guys i am over using it.. luckily i am getting away with it w/o chest pains or any crazy side effects. MY question still is,i use azelaic acid, from what i read people use it on their scalps it reduces dht by like 89% so i read but with zinc and b6 applied topically it cuts dht by 98%,i have no clue how it does it,but the only solution i know of that has b6 and azelex and zinc and a few others is Crinagen,i want your opinion is using just plain 20 % azelaic acid a waste or should i keep doing it? Retin-a GEL .025 i heard is the best to apply.. my doctor called it in for me a 45 gram tube. I still linger with the question, when do i apply the retin-a i know this is one drug i can't OVER USE i've seen people's faces using a tiny bit too much so i know i must be careful,i would love to raise the level of absorbation by 200-300 % (of the minoxidil) who wouldnt? BUT i need to know when to put it on. And i will defintely cut down on the minoxidil usage you know your over using it when you even tell yourself "Damn i used alot". SO burning question is,how long before or afer minoxidil do i put the retin-a on (really want to use this because they say it works on the temple area for growing hair, worth a try). Also can i apply.. azelex right after applying minoxidil? I don't wan't to do TOO Much but i do want to be very aggressive,i think you guys are straight shooters and would steer me in the right direction and let me know if i am going over board.. lowering the amount of minoxidil big time... and adding the retin-a please answer if anyone has any input.:)

THanks to all,
Rich:)

Apply the retin-A first, let it dry, then ONE mL of rogaine to the entire scalp. It's all you need, and I don't give a sh*t what you think otherwise, because I'm correct. Always.

Hey sting your the veteran poster i will go with what you say.. right before you posted to my message i read you leave it on 15-20 mins on until it dries then put on the minoxidil so you WERE correct, now what about azelex? Can i do the same with that one? Apply it first .. then wait for it to dry 15-20 mins and apply the minoxidil again? I will def use the 1 ML (okay slightly above one ML) but that is less than what i was using before much less :) i was using 2 ML's (on average). Your right though i was doing it too much i am toning it down.

Thanks for the advice!

No need to use both retin-A AND azelex...Azelaic acid is a better retinoid to use than retin-A anyways. Plus it has anti-androgenic properties (not proven, but it's believed.) Either one or the other. Both is too much. I'd stick with the Azelex only.

And with the 1mL thing...why waste your money putting on more than what the recommended dosage is? It won't do you any more good, could potentially be bad, and will cost you twice or thrice as much as you need to spend.

Word.

Great i will stay on the azelex... i like it doesn't irritate the scalp at all. I hear ya i am paying double for my minoxidil over usage, with this liquid applicator from Forest labatories seems i don't need to apply as much (got it today) also bought toppik and courve small versions just to test it out as i dont have a big area to cover and would use it on when it's a must i have to look okay.

Thanks for all the tips guys i really appreciate it,
R I C H :)

From my ***... where I get all my information.

I don't think the CONCENTRATION of retinoids is necessarily a factor in it being BETTER or not. Since Azelaic acid is ALSO a known anti-androgen, it has an advantage over retin-A.

Or should I do more research?

I don't think you caught my drift. What I'm talking about is that you seem to think that azelaic acid is a "retinoid". Where did you get that idea? It's not a retinoid, it's a fatty acid.

Another minor point: azelaic acid is alleged to be a 5a-reductase inhibitor (which I personally find doubtful), but I've never seen any claims for it being an antiandrogen.

If it's supposed to inhibit DHT, dosen't that mean it has anti-androgenic properties?
