Your chances of side effects if you don't worry about em are slim and none. Don't think and nothing happens bad.

New here too, posting same message from minoxidil board

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi guys new here,i am 26/M i don't know how bad my hairloss is since no one i know will tell me the TRUTH everyone knows how obsessed i am with my hair,so they tell me i have a full head just "fine hair". I know i have a thinning spot in the back of my head and the front is receeding..i take so many medications and been through so much i don't know if it's hereditary OR combination of both here's my past history... please don't think i am a LOONY!

Went on Accutane twice for Cystic Acne on the CHIN (twice)
Taking anti-depressants for years mainly prozac, also benzo's sedatives to counteract the speed up the prozac gives ya,take into account i am on antibiotics.. and also prilosec... i wonder why i even have hair still LOL.

They say Trauma can cause Hairloss, well i had 2 bad deaths.. (my own life i tried to take when i was YOUNGER (19),i am 26 now. I had rhinoplasty to fix a broken nose,i had ECT for depression, and i've had many laser treaments for a birthmark add all this up and i still got hair.

OKay i am using ROgaine 5 % 2 X a day
Propecia 1mg 1 X a day
Azelex 20 % cream 1 X a day
Using Prograine shampoo daily, have to get the stuff out otherwise it will clog right?
I JUST got NIzoral 2 % today,i am very fortunate to have a doctor who will help me in anything that will help me even if it's placebo.

I know about Proscar and Generic Roagine i am getting all of that... my question is i use azelex 20 % topical used for acne but i am sure many of you heard about it being used for stopping DHT and othet stuff for the scalp,my question would be currently i use the rogaine in the morning and about 5 hours later i use the azelex.. then rogaine many hours later again is this okay? Should i apply the azelex and then rogaine right afterwards or does this sound good?? Is there ant way i can upload you guys my pics,i have straight hair when a friend told me 2 weeks ago "dude your losing some hair in the back,i was shocked i knew i was but NO ONE ever pointed it out) so 2 days later i went to the haircutter .. and got a nice #1 cut like i used to have before that i had a dcent head of hair just fine and straight...i will upload pics if someone can email me at [email protected] and tell me how to upload some before and afters i would love to show the thinning spot and how my hair LOOKED after i cut it.. and how it looks now.. i have no problem being open and helping anyone who i can! I know this is a LONG post but i just want people to know who i am and that i am here just like everyone else to help and he helped when needed.

Anyone wants to give me advice or needs advice please email me at [email protected].. i would love to hear from everone who is currently seeking treament.. I am on Day 16 of my Propecia Roagine/Azelex regimen so far hardly any irritation even tho azelex does burn it doesn't burn my scalp and i OVER USE everything. I bought Generic ROgaine in Walgreens (will go to sams clubs/kotsco to get it for $20 for a 4 month supply. because i use a month's supply in 2 weeks. SO anyone willing to help or want to talk please email me.. i will show photos and such ..

GOd bless and take care!
Rich:)

Sounds like you know what you're doing. I'm assuming Azelix or however it's spelled is an Azelaic acid topical. The thing with Vitamin A is that it can both be a benifactor AND a detriment to your hair. Small quantities of retinoids helps increase minoxidil absorption 200-300%, whereas large quantities, like isotretinoin (e.g. Accutane) can in a sense toxify your body and cause hair to fall out. I use 0.025% Retin-A cream twice a week. I am REAL sensitive to vitamin A, so I don't think I should push it any more than that. Also, 1mL of rogaine or whatever you use is MORE than plenty to go around the whole head. Using more will not benefit you any more than using 1mL since only 5% of the applied dosage needs be absorbed for it to be 100% effective.

I think you got it down meng. If it works for you keep us posted...seem's you got a good regimen going down. My condolences on all your past problems...it's a wonder you have even a single hair on your head left.

Good luck.

I hear ya!

Yes it's Azelex (Azelaic acid 20%),I know i over use the rogaine way too much, just a placebo effect putting more on. Can you help me maybe post Pictures on here, could i maybe make a crappy free website and link you all to my pictures?I would love to see other's results also,so if anyone has pics before and NOW.. please email to me [email protected] hear you with how i still have hair, strange thing i went to a plastic surgeon who was treating my girlfriend for something else,he told me most men lose most of the hair by age 38,so him putting a hair transplant would look silly if i was going bald everywhere else,i understood him i would be left with the transplant and at at 38 just have the transplant left lol,i guess he wasn't thinking "Propecia" and rogaine.. he was thinking i can do breast implants and make more money in 30 minutes then going under a microscope.. for endless hours.. (he told me this personally). He said i did have a visible thinning spot in the back of the head not bald but definitely thinning,i love to tackle things head on and get a grip on it before it gets out of hand. When i shaved to a #1 clip the spot went away and hair looked fine, now 2 weeks later spot has come back my hair grows back pretty quickly in MOST places but u can see i have hair but it's not dense right now you can easily still see scalp i know it's only 2 weeks after getting a crew cut but when you start looking for balding spots you find more of them or more visible hairline before you ever started. Thanks for the nod about my regimen i hope it works and i defintely will post pics for everyone to see. Best of luck to all,

Rich:)

spironolactone+pro topical

Hi,
I've been using a topical application of 20ml+6 100g spironolactone pills, along with 0.5g dutasteride oral. I've got some propecia pills still left over. Anyone think its worth me crushing them and adding them to my topical combo of spironolactone and dermovan? If so how many should i add to a mixture of 20ml dermovan and 6 x 100mg spironolactone?
all help would be greatly appreciated.

Jay

Do you guys think taking oral vitamin A supplements is benefical, in that increases the absorption of minoxidol into the scalp? or does it have to be applied topically? [/img]

No Retin A is not the same thing as oral Vitamin A and taking oral Vit A will do nothing to aid your hair unless you had gross deficiency, which you almost certainly do not.

Of course, Hollywood would disagree with me given his last post on Fatty Acids. He would have you plopping Vit A capsules on your head!

Actually bruce...Taking oral vitamin A could be a detriment to your hair. Your body gets more than enough Vitamin A through just normal eating. Too much Vitamin A orally such as Isotretinoin (accutane) can actually cause hair to fall out in a sort of toxic shock. Yes you heard that right..Vitamin A in high quanties is toxic.

I was on accutane twice, one 5 month treatment at a HIGH dosage, and a low dosage treatment i did on my own (acne on the chin),i feared it coming back even though i was clear,Accutane Defintely THINS the hair to a point but will not make you bald,i am sure all the meds i am on aren't helping either but acne/less hair is a tough call. I was 19 and 20 at the time so i wasn't thinking about my hair. Retin-a is way different it may be called "topical accutane" but it's FAR from accutane not even in the same ballpark. I would stay away from high dosages of Vit A unless you need the Accutane, otherwise stick with what you usually go with for hair loss

MY regimen is

5 % rogaine 2 X a day
Azelex 20% 1X a day
NIzoral 2 % every 3 days
Propecia 1 Mg 1 X a day

Been on about only 20 days i do notice every few days i shed as some days i see my whole scalp and next few days it's covered again, def not in my head it does happen the pics on my website even show it,but nothing to warrant me to go off of any meds,i am trying to fill in the crown area alittle have thinning hair there, also would love to see some hair along the hairline/temples.. even alittle would be huge as i have some hair to work with i will post photos on day 30.

Take care all!
Rich:)

EXTREMELY uncommon for a vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A is found in just about everything you eat...namely dairy products. I wouldn't recommend taking supplements of vitamin A at all. Topically is a different story because retinols help aide in absorption of topically applied agents. I'm not SURE exactly, but I'm assuming it helps in eliminating gunk in the pores and other fissures in the skin allowing topicals to penetrate more efficiently than without. Of course it IS a double edged sword. If anyone has taken Accutane, you know how dry vitamin A can make your skin..which is a detriment to anything hair-loss related.

Only use Vitamin A if you KNOW what you are doing. It can make or break you.

Use the proven treatments. Homeopathic is just another word for "It's not gonna work". You can try it if you want though. But mark my words. 99% of the people who try just the herbal, or homeopathic remedies have had 0 results.

Gives yah something to think about.
