Hey guys, I have been reading this forum for the last couple of months but this is my first post. Well I am 20 years old and recently noticed thinning around my crown, and a bit of a receding hair line. I still have most of my hair. Anyways, to my acutaly question, I have been splitting proscar into four peices and taking it, works out to less then 10 bucks a month here in Canada. I have been taking it for only 3 days and I have noticed that I have a hard time "getting it up" it still gets there but it takes a lot more effort now, and i lose very quickly if no attention is paid to it. Is this normal??? will this stop? I really hope it does since this seems to me the most efffective treatment. Sorry for the long post.

Cheers guys and thanks for the support

I sort of have the same situation (15 days on 1mg finasteride). I won't get scared until I can't get it up at all. You are taking 1.25 mg, so if it persists you could consider taking a bit less... crush it into powder and estimate, I guess. Generally these type of side effects go away over time (and go away completely if you stop taking finasteride).

the sexual side effects aren't "normal" because most people do not get them, but they are not abnormal either. many times your body just needs time to adjust to the changes going on from finasteride products, and the side effects subside. If they do not subside over time, i recommend finding a pill-cutter that cuts five ways, and just take 1 mg a day instead of 1.25. there are people on here that can help you find that pill cutter, i use propecia so i don't deal with pill cutting.

Update:

Hey just to give a little update on my situation, its been just about two weeks of being proscar and I am breaking them into 1/4 still (its easier). And the side effects have completely gone away!! I am back to normal maybe even have greater labido now that I no longer fear that I am losing my hair =). So if anyone is reading this considering to go on proscar on propecia give it a shot, its not as scary as everyone make it seem to be. I think you only read the negative because those are the people who are likely to post to look for alternatives. That is just my 2 cents hope it helps someone.

Cheers
