Proscar, pain in prostate

Hey, I've been using Finasteride for more than 2 months right now but just recently got proscar because it is cheaper and I can easily cut it in 5 pieces.
Since the last few days since I switched from Finasteride to Proscar of MSD i had a few moments that I couldn't get my dick up and now I keep on feeling a little bit of pain or burning sensation. This really sucks and I wonder if it goes away after awhile? With the other Finasteride I had no problem at all and it worked really well for me.

That's pretty weird, are you 100% sure it's not your mind making things up? You can get the sides you described from finasteride, no doubt, but you're taking the exact same dose as before so it should be the same. Some people say the original propecia and proscar (bith by Merck) work better than other generic stuff, so maybe now that you're on "the real stuff" you're getting a stronger dose. While you indeed can react differently to generics vs original regarding medication in general, it's also a bit of a bro science theory around the hair loss forums so I'm not to sure about it.

Anyway, I'd wait a couple of weeks and then evaluate further. Just keep taking 1/5 proscar a day. If you still experience these sides after a while, it might be best to go to a doctor before dropping finasteride because you got them while essentially nothing changed with your medication so there's even the possibillity of the sides not being caused by finasteride but by something else.

Yeah I am pretty sure of it. I will continue using proscar and see how it will go in the upcoming days and hopefully the pain will go away. The thing that scared me the most was having trouble getting a boner which normally is no problem for me lol. But like I said the problems started with proscar and before that I didn't have anything at all. I'll give updates in the future.

Prostate pain is not listed as a side effect. And having a few moments when you couldn't get a hard on is normal. Unless you were trying to have sex and you couldn't do it, then it's not an issue. Better see a doctor but try not to blame everything on finasteride unless you're 100% certain and it's listed as a side effect.

To say atm any of your symptoms are actually related to finasteride. would be erroneous. It's been said more than once these respective issues often reside after prolonged use. Don't worry just get over to the Doctor's at your earliest convenience. Best of luck.

I keep on feeling a little bit of pain or burning sensation.

I have the same problem, but much worse. Think human torch except the only thing up in flames is my penis.

And which brand of finasteride are you using? The one I used the first 2 months didn't give me a flame on penis, although I stopped buying it because its more expensive, also I forgot which brand it was. You don't mind enduring the pain?

Man that sounds awful. I'm sorry to hear that. Your user name is certainly appropriate and I often wondered what that was about. I would not suggest changing it to HotRod anytime soon.-)

Soo today I feel normal, no pain whatsover or burning sensation. My theory is that the in the 5 pieces I cut up there is 1 piece that consisted more miligram than the others therefore I had these side effects?

I think he was just being sarcastic. Penis or prostate pains are not reported side effects of finasteride.
