Proscar v. Propecia

I hope you guys don't think this is stupid question but are these two drugs the same thing, only difference being proscar is 5X more powerful????

my derm wrote me a perscription for propecia but after doing some reserch i found that the cost is nearly 2X as much as proscar which appers to be the same thign.. is that wrong?

EDIT: and i understand you have to split the pill into 4ths or fifths...

Most people just buy proscar and split it up for that reason, i.e. it's a lot cheaper.

Just buy it online if your Doctor won't give you a script for Proscar, it's dead cheap.
