Proscar, when to pack it in due to side affects?

Hi guys,

At what point should one pack it in because of sexual side effects? It's been around 2 months now on Proscar and the softness of my erections is brutal. Is it possible this can improve or do I have to accept it?

Before packing it in at least try a lower dose for a few months. It is not a law that you have to stick to 1mg which i presume you are cutting it into. Personally my libido and wood is so much better on 0.80mg than 1mg,

I'm actually trying to get less than 1mg. it amazes me that this tiny thing, a smal pill which I then cut into 7ths, has this affect on our body. I'm not sure waiting 10 months is advisable, there have been some fellas report permanent problems though I don't know how long they were on finasteride for.

I can tell you that I had side effects (soft erections) for the entire two years that I was on finasteride. I got off of finasteride and got worried when things didn't get better right away. However, Cassin gave me some good advice which turned out to be dead on:

It takes up to six weeks to get over the side effects for some people.

It took me exactly six weeks to recover, but now I've been off of finasteride for two month with a complete return to normal.

I don't mean this to be harsh to anyone on the board, but I think that some guys who never recover from finasteride side effects might have been prone to libido or erection-related issues anyway, finasteride or no finasteride

Strange how we all react differently, I was on proscar 1.25 mg for about 4 years, never one problem. Been on avodart .5 mg since dec 2002, no side effects. I hope it works out for you. Especially since all side effect rates foe 1mg are less than 1% when compared to placebo.

my wife gives it up three times a week and I beat off in between .No problems here .Thats more info than you needed . Funny how it effects some folks and not others .

I agree with you Mr. Fretwell. Some people tend to be more effected then others. I for one had some sexual side effects, but now everything is back to normal. My girl cant get enough loving, and me being Tony Montana can give enough loving.
