Hi all

This is my first post here ever. I've been reading many entries over the past 10 years and there are some good forum posts. Thanks for whoever puts their time and effort into this page for free, I really appreciate this platform.

I have hair loss that I noticed at the age of 16 (I'm now 34). I'm very lucky that it has progressed very slowly, even though I sometimes lost up to 300 hairs per day. I have very thick hair so I can hide my receding temples quiet well. Still, like almost all people on this forum, I hate the hair loss and have trouble coping with it. I've tried minoxidil (not very consistent, first once daily then only eod) along with KET with some results (a bit of regrowth, though the hairs never matured all the way). I had no shedding. I don't use minoxidil anymore (maybe only used it 4 years total). I still use KET shampoo twice weekly because of my extreme dandruff otherwise. I never tried finasteride and I don't intend to.

Now what I started doing since November is dermarolling. I dermaroll once a week with 1.5mm and first only put on rosemary oil afterwards. I had the same results like I did with minoxidil 5%. I was pretty amazed that this actually works so well and even though I only did this once a week I had these results. I started taking the following natural supplements as well:

- Nettle capsules (500mg twice daily)
- Cold pressed pumpkin seed oil (1 spoon daily)
- Pygeum capsules (First 200mg daily then 100mg daily)
- Grape seed extract capsules (350mg twice daily)

I also modified my rosemary oil and made a mixture of:

- Jojoba oil as the carrier oil
- Lavender oil
- Sandalwood oil
- Peppermint oil
- Rosemary oil

I add oil drops into the shampoo as well when washing my hair. This mixture lasts for a long time and even though I thought it's pricey at the start, I now know this isn't the case because it lasts so long.

After 5 Months of using this oil and these supplements I noticed (now about 4 weeks already) that I started to lose noticeably less hair (when counting as well as possible it was around 50-90 hairs daily rounding it up). When using a comb or when washing my hair, I significantly lose less hair. I first thought this is just me imagining something or maybe just one of those days you lose less hair because I never expected this at all and usually this stuff doesn't help too much or at least research on the internet sais not to expect a big difference.

Now I wonder why nobody on here really talks about (or takes) pygeum along with nettle. Since I made the mistake of just adding all this stuff at once, I can't say what it is that helps me the most. But I can imagine it is the nettle in combination with pygeum that is responsible for my hair loss decrease while the oil mixture along dermarolling helps with a bit of regrowth.

I researched more about pygeum, nettle and pumpkin seed oil and I'm starting to ask myself if this could have possible side effects like finasteride or saw palmetto because it falls into the same category (used to treat BPH symptoms). I don't have any sides at all.

Does anybody here have any information or experience with pygeum and nettle that he can share?? (yes I know about other benefits of pygeum ;-) )

Thanks all for taking time to read my post and possible answers.

cheers!

-- EDIT --

So I decided to put up some pictures with my results thus far. I might post more pictures after half a year or so to see if anything changed at all or if it got worse/better (hope I won't forget, because I usually don't take pictures or keep track. Everything I tried so far to reduce hair loss only made it slow down. I was never able to stop it completely. So I never wanted to take before/after pictures of something I tried). But since this result happened so fast, I was able to notice it easily and thought I'd share.

I've marked where I noticed the most regrowth. On one picture I didn't mark anything but that one shows the results very well too. The thickest hairs have actually grown up front, which initially made my hairline look bit worse :) I also took a picture from up top so you can see my receding temples.

Congratulations with your first message after 8 years.
:D

It took me 2 years to register and 8 to find the login button ;) some people say I'm a bit slow on the uptake. But I don't fully understand yet what they mean.

Interested to follow this thread and see what comes out if it. I have nettle tinctures that I've been putting in a serum I make but am considering taking it orally instead or in addition. Maybe I should try taking pumpkin seed oil orally too... Any ideas if oral or topical is better?

I don't know if oral or topical is better (or if it even makes a difference). I decided to take them orally because it's easier/quicker than topical application. Also the hair isn't as greasy and I'm already putting an oil on there with many ingredients once a week after dermarolling.
