Question about Rogaine and transplanted hair

Hi,

My doctor has me on a post-op 3 month Rogaine regimen. I know it works especially well on the crown area. However, I was wondering if it can achieve good results with frontal "transplanted" hair too, which being taken from the back of the scalp is normally immune to DHT?

Thanks

I just got an email from an employee of my hair transplant surgeon (Alvi Armani) and it said to keep using Minoxidil as it will give my transplanted hair "a boost".

Thanks... I think I'm seeing some improvement using Rogaine, though still not sure.

Midiman,

Minoxidil can definitely jump start the growth but you should still do fine without it. You don't need the minoxdil for the transplanted hair that was placed in your frontal zone because as you said, it's terminal hair not affected by DHT.

You may want to continue minoxidil in your crown and midscalp if you are miniturizing and losing in those areas. Are you also on Propecia? I wish you the best growth in the coming months! :hairy:

Hey thanks Gillenator...

Yes, I'm using Proscar/1.25mg a day for another year and will cut back to EOD thereafter. Although I'm still shedding, I'm seeing small black dots on my scalp. Not sure about those? I'll probably be able to keep about half of the implanted grafts up until the real growth starts... not bad.
