Question: minoxidil application consistency (same hour everyday)?

I was wondering, does it really make some kind of noticeable difference if you apply minoxidil at a different hour, everyday?

I have a very irregular routine (job, kids, etc.) and I can't possibly apply minoxidil at the same time everyday. It's usually 8:30am / 8:00pm, but sometimes it's more like 10:00am and sometimes 4:00pm. I always wait 4 hours before taking a shower to make sure the product is on my scalp for hours.

I know minoxidil is efficient for some people that use it only once a day. My case is different: I use it twice a day, but at inconsistent times. Is it worse than using it once a day?

Anybody had positive results when minoxidil was applied at different times?

By the way, the package (I use Kirkland) doesn't mention consistency. They only say "once in the morning and once at night". I guess they want to sell a product that works (so we can buy it for the rest of our lives), so they would probably mention it if you had to use it at exactly the same time, everyday.

Your opinion?

Definitly no difference. Sometimes I apply it morning and evening but sometimes I use it only one time the day and even sometimes I forget to use it, the results are still here, no change since the last 2 years.

And you get good results? That's interesting. Thanks.

I suppose that a perfect application, every time, every day will give better results, but I'm just too busy to schedule this at the exact same moment, each day.

Anyone else?

I made one mistake with minoxidil, at the begining it was my only medication. Was using it 2x times a day, I GOT crazy results with lot of regrowth, and then I started to be a little lazy with it, was using 2 or 3 times a WEEK only....HUUUUGE mistake, I got a big shedding, the worst in my life, propecia shedding was nothing in comparaison.
It's very rare that I miss a day but it may happen, I try to use it at least one time a day. And yeah the results are solid, I see no difference between 2times a day and one time a day.

This doesn't quite answer your question but it might be relevant. I tried minoxidil 2-3 years ago and I used it once a day, sometimes twice - not very reliably. I've been giving it a go again recently and I've been very strict about using it not just twice every day, but every 12 hours. This isn't easy to schedule but I've been trying to avoid putting it on "just before" bed and just after getting up (16 hour gap and a 8 hour gap). My results are dramatically improved compared to 2-3 years ago, on the same areas - which have now been bald/minaturized for longer...

The only thing clouding matters is my use of 2% keto shampoo and some topical DHT blockers this time. I have noticed far better regrowth in a short time which I would attribute to minoxidil though, much superior to my previous minoxidil results. I think spacing it out not in terms of days but trying to use it every 12 hours is beneficial, as is leaving it on. I wouldn't want to put minoxidil on for a couple of hours tops in the morning then have a shower before going out. I don't know how important things like that are (I don't want to sabotage my results atm to expirement), but I've seen an improvement since being more consistent with my usage. To answer your question I did see (some) positive results on an inconsistent regime usually featuring 2 applications a day at varying times.

I'll probably be able to apply minoxidil twice a day most of the time (i'd say 26-27 days/month, and will probably skip one or two applications 4 days/month). I hope the results will be positive.

Korlicbus, how long did you apply it inconsistently, to get these (somewhat) positive results? A couple months? A year?

A couple of months. I've had "cosmetically significant" regrowth in temple areas within 6 weeks this time around (Rogaine foam). The first time (few years ago) I used liquid and got lots of vellus peach fuzz in a similar time frame. I think I respond really well to minoxidil so this might not be normal. I applied it to all the "problem" areas last time and had to give up cause of sides. This time I'm only applying a small amount to the temples mainly in an effort to reduce sides. The fact I'm susceptible to sides from minoxidil and I get fairly dramatic results suggests to me it's really effective on me compared to some other people. I know that if I dermarolled then applied minoxidil (like some people have been doing) I would end up in hospital probably. I haven't tried dermarolling for the record but I am following the various forum threads about it.

Allright , the FDA approve minoxidil ( Rogaine) , Am I right? There are the studies and reasons behind it which they suggest people to use twice daily !Obviously Everyone prefer to use it just once in a day but technically and clinically it would not be have the same result! the scientists which introduced minoxidil definetely knew you can use it just one day and apply 2 ml in one application only! But as like as many other treatments and drug it has a half-life , it assumes that the half-life is around 8 hours ( I do not care if it is 4 hour on wikipedia ) so it means you need to apply it at least two times in a day , Some persons who believe it has 4 hours half-life suggest to use it 3-4 times daily ! But because I do not rely to their source( wikiepedia ) I would say you need to apply it twice daily , 95 % of dermatologists prescribed it for twice daily so I would be agree with them ! I personally got a prescription and used it once in a day for about the year and the result was ok but when I did it for twice daily I guess better results : although my result was not part of study and just my personal beliefs and you can ignore me , but I'm sure the other scientific has some good reason behind of two times daily So just try to use it at least with 8 hours gap if you can not make 12 hours , like 2pm in the afternoon and 11 pm in the night ! if its more than 8 hours you would be fine ! I can not say about 4pm and 10pm better than once a day or not because I do not have any scientific information about that ! So That's my only suggestion to you !
