racial trends with hairloss

LOL

I'm not a doctor... I'm just asking if there is any proof behind your claims!

Who said anything about pills? All I said is that scientific evidence, and lots of it, point to male pattern baldness being genetic. You continue to make statements in an authoritative tone attributing male pattern baldness to things such as whether or not you have sex, or work out, or don't work out, or have oily skin, or have lots of friends, or can get girls to laugh.

I'm not trying to act like a "doctor", never mentioned anything about pills, I'm just asking for some sort of, ANY sort of backup, anywhere, for your statements.

It's really that simple.

Oh, and don't give me this "oh, poor me, the moderator is against me" cop out baloney. I haven't moved any postings, changed any postings, added, locked, or deleted anything. I'm just a normal participant who read a bunch of wild claims, and is now asking for some backup.

This is a "forum", which means that any claim you post is subject to challenge and discussion. If you can't handle a discussion on the merits of your claims, then don't make them.

Sooo... where were we? Oh, right... the backup. Where is the backup for your claims? Is your next post going to have some backup, Ronnie, or is it going to be another personal snipe or other attempt at deflection. If you don't have any backup, then all you have to do is say "well, the claims aren't actually proven, they are just my opinion" and we'll call it a day.

Nice try at a deflection... I didn't make any claims, but if you are referring to my general belief that male pattern baldness is genetic, I can post citations to studies, doctor's briefs, and medical articles up the yin yang. As far as your claims are concerned, all you can cite is your own a**h**.

Yep, just what I predicted. No backup, just another personal attack, and a lame one at that.

Still waiting for the backup on your claims, Ronnie. Is it forthcoming? Or are you going to try for another personal attack to attempt to deflect the question?

How?

Your posts are barely even comprehensible, you make outrageous claims that you have no proof to back up, and at times you even contradict your own posts. All I see you do is spread misinformation, your claims are laughable at best. When you are called out on it, all you (can) do is call someone names! I've seen better behavior out of a five year old.

its kind of sad that every 4th or 5th thread seems to turn into a mudslinging session these days, while the actual topic is thrown out the window.

I would also like to add that after looking arabs and middle east guys on TV, movies, or other places, I must say that all those guys have full heads of hair, even when they are 50+ years old.

They have more hair than king kong.

So, yes, there must be some ethnic trend with hairloss.

Yes, and Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, various white actors also have decent heads of hair at advanced ages. What can I conclude from this about whites? Nothing.

In the general middle eastern population, I have seen a lot of Iranian and some arab people balding fairly early in life. The percentage seems to be similar to that seen in europeans (again my observation, but should not be surprising) . These people evolved in hotter climates than in Europe (esp. Northern Europe).

you cant go on what you see on the street or tv, only statistical evidence on paper. by this we KNOW there is a lower incidence of hairloss in africans and asians than caucasians. this is unarguable and it doesnt matter how many bald black people you saw on the train yesterday.

the question was why do you think this would be so? people evolve around their environments, and i suggested climate was a large part of that. as yet noone has offered up an alternative. nor need there be one i now realise as back then we bred far earlier in life and hairloss would never have had a chance to become part of the selection process as it would occur after breeding age.

You make an important point about male pattern baldness happening later than the breeding period in early humans. This in my opinion rules out any notion of a "purpose" for male pattern baldness in sexual signaling, it just doesn't add up!

In my opinion, androgen driven human hair patterns use the same basic mechanism as the original mammalian "winter coat" hair adjustment. This is the tissue fluid pressure around follicles (you know my argument).

But the androgen effect on local tissue fluid levels is far stronger in the fluid changes it makes than those caused by temperature in modern humans.

So the selection in evolution was not so much a temperature driven one as in other species, as we had evolved the "sense" to keep warm independently of hair (human inteligence).

In my opinion higher than is necessary in males, levels of androgens evolved in some humans depending on local populations, because of the sexual advantage?

In early human evolution as in all other primate species, the priority is to have a breeding advantage.

http://www.unl.edu/rhames/bonobo/bonobo.htm

According to my theory, higher levels of androgens evolved in crowded early human societies, to give a breeding advantage. The effects of reducing DHT on sexual performance and sperm health are known!

In the early groups with fewer numbers over larger area's, this was not so important. For example native Americans and other related groups like eskimo's, lived in smaller groups than Europeans over larger area's, so there was less need in evolution to be as sexually "competitive".

Blame it on the females for being up for it with every male!

So really according to this thinking, it is differences in racial levels of androgens that would be significant. Not male pattern baldness itself, as there are other traits that trigger male pattern baldness for a given level of androgens in my opinion.

it doesnt really matter how many "you've seen". statistics in this area show african men have a far lower incidence of male pattern baldness. and humans evolve around their climate, one would think hair would be more useful to people living in cold areas than it would be to people living in hot areas. it would then make sense that hairloss would be more prevalent in races which have evolved in hot climates, yet this is not the case.
climate and environment is only partial influence on human evolution...

Chinese and Native American ppl. have very low amounts of body hair genetically, and they are 2 races that have very LOW incidences of male pattern baldness

White ppl. tend to have large amounts of body hair and bald a LOT

Hmmm correlation? DHT=body hair=balding

Its likely diet related. Asians who eat American diets lose hair at about the same percentage as Americans. I would imagine that Africans would be the same.

I believe body hair is stimulated by FSH ( folicle stimulating hormone ).

Does this mean more free test = more body hair and more DHT and hairloss?

I dont think so - I think its more that some people have more sensitive androgen receptors than others. Some will bald faster ( due to receptor sensitivity to DHT ), some will gain muscle faster ( due to receptor sensitivity to test ), some will get limp c*** from propecia ( due to sensitivity to the reduction in DHT ), some will gain fat around the waist from propecia ( due to receptor sensitivity to estrogen ), some will grow body hair faster than others ( due to receptor sensitivity to FSH ).

Anyhow thats my theory. If we could find a way to block androgen receptors in hair folicles, we could develop topical agents to rid us of body hair, and regrow scalp hair.
