Ran into an old friend last night

Saw an old buddy of mine at the bar last night, and man was I shocked. I don't do Facebook because I like to experience life outside of it, so naturally I don't get updated photos or anything of that nature. So, me and this dude went to high school together, and he just recently turned 25. I haven't seen him since he was about 21. He moved to California to attend Berkeley on a graduate scholarship. Back then, he was a thick NW1 with longish hair combed straight back with gel. He rocked that look for years. When I saw him last night, a mere 4 years later, I didn't even know who he was until he told me his full name. He had lost so much hair in a 4 year span, I couldn't believe my eyes. I tried to make small talk about his ongoing research that he needs to finish to get his PhD, but I couldn't get over his hair situation. I'm talking a complete diffuse NW6. Worse yet, he just kept the horseshoe and let the thin hair grow on top instead of just rocking the Mr. Clean. I mean...how could something like that even be possible? That's rhetorical of course, but it just scared the crap out of me knowing that someone could lose that much hair THAT quickly. I felt so bad for the guy, and didn't know how to ask him about his hair situation -- or lack thereof.

No reason to ask anyone about hairloss unless you feel the need to inform them about finasteride and min.
Many don'trrealize how effective it actually can be and you could really help them out. However, I find it hard to tell in fear of them looking down on you for treating hairloss.

Yes. Sometimes hairloss can be very fast. Especially diffused hairloss that comes with itching. It nearly always leads to NW6 in under 10 years.

You should have asked if it bothers him loosing his hair and quickly interject saying "because there something you can do about it."
People will definitely hide their pain but not all obviously, some people just don't care....somehow....

Man if only he had caught it earlier like zzzzz and got on dutasteride and RU

Do you mind sharing what his major is? Graduate school in general is very stressful. I experienced quite a bit of hair loss while I was in grad school, but recovered from it by using minoxidil.

You just do the civil thing and assume he has inherited male pattern baldness and move on.
