rapid miniaturization

I'm experiencing extremely rapid difuse thinning. What really freaks me out is that every single hair that falls from my head is MUCH thicker and pigmented at the tip and progressively thinner and transparent at the base. The difference in color and diameter between the two ends is dramatic.

My question is: Is it normal for hairs to miniaturize so quickly due to male pattern baldness? Thick, dark and pigmented to flimsy and transparent in a 4" strand? Seems out of control to me. Anyone else experiencing this?

if you keep your hair long you'll notice the miniturization more.

I experienced it.. it's called male pattern baldness!!! and it sucks!!!!!!!

some people take decades to lose hair and some people lose it all in just a few years!!

everyone is different.

all hair is thinner at the root. it doesn't always mean the hair is miniaturizing. take a look at your body hair sometime.

This is not miniturization. Hair strands cannot be "half miniturized" like you describe. Miniturization descirbed the replacing of a hair shaft by a thinner, less pigmented one. What you describe is normal shedding of hair. It may or may not be male pattern baldness.

Bump

Guys I would really like to read a bit more conversation on this topic. I have not been able to find any definitive info. I am also losing hairs which are really thick at the tip and are almost invisible towards the root.

From what I understood, hair cannot suddenly change how thick it is without shedding first. This is meant to be why products like rogaine can cause an initial shed.

Is it really normal for a strand of hair to be thinner towards the root?
