I'm 24 years old, balding since 18.
I'm about ~62 days in treatment right now.

Treatment consists of:
- Minoxidil 5%
- Finasteride 1.25mg daily
- Dermapen every week
- Nizoral shampoo occassionally.

Not really seeing any improvements but I didn't take photos at day 0, which is my mistake of course.

I want to know, if anyone experienced can see any regrowth coming in, or should I just go ahead and start saving up for a surgery.
PS. Looks greasy because I applied minoxidil.
Thank you.

You’re only two months into treatment...

I am - does that mean it's impossible to say anything at this point?
I feel bad, look bad, and my self-esteem has taken a big hit because of this. I need results.

It is quite early to expect results...

have u got any sides from fina? u takin proscar?
From finasteride: Perhaps minimally lowered libido, although I had it very high, so I'm not complaining wanting to masturbate less XD.
I'm taking "Finaster" which is 5mg finasteride. I divide it by 4, which is roughly 1.25mg per portion. Taking one portion a day. "Finaster" is supposed to be the same as "Proscar", but cheaper in my country. Finasteride definitely helped me with hair shedding. No questions about that. I barely get any hair on hands after moving on top of my head, when it used to be 4-5 hairs per hand move...

From minoxidil: heavy dandruff started appearing. I'm still hoping it'll subside after a while.

Yeah well, I don't expect results, I just expect someone to tell me if there's any signs that this routine is helping me. Perhaps someone more knowledgable than me knows what are signs of head reacting positively to treatment.

Impossible to say really mate. Those little hairs at the corners could be regrowth or miniaturizing hair, we can't know without a before pic

In my opinion, it might help... It's the typical 'Big Three' routine which does have somewhat of a success rate. Since your diffuse loss is more progressed, I would recommend dutasteride over finasteride...

There are other methods which can lead to an extensive amount of regrowth, but it's a risk... It depends on how much you value your hair, I guess.

That's what I thought :/ Thanks anyway.

I'll try to get dutasteride, but I don't think it's gonna be easy to get in my country... it's not commonly prescribed.
What other methods do you have in mind? If you mean estrogen theraphy, then that's out of the question. Anything other that I might add into this and doesn't make me a woman I will try XD

See, people have gotten such significant results from a combination of spironolactone + dutasteride without developing side effects such as gynecomastia... I was thinking a combination of spironolactone + dutasteride + oral minoxidil. I will provide some links of peoples experiences:

I would use a hair concealer for the time being, you've got hair allover the norwood 2 zone and i think this would help the thickness appearence to a extent that no one would think you were balding and it gives you a bit of time before finasteride and minoxidil hopefully kick in.
Good luck

Seeing as you started these treatments over two months ago, there's a very good chance that you've shed quite a bit since. But as someone else said, a before picture would have been handy for comparison. All I can tell you is that when you start these treatments, it will get worse before it gets better. Just hang in there and give it time and continue what you're doing

I might try some of those concealers, although I'm worried they might negatively impact hair growth.

I did shed at the beginning for about a month I'd say... After that, very minor or no shedding has occured. I am trying to hang in there, but it's quite hard considering I can see obvious signs of females being less interested since I lost my hair...

Don't worry about concealers affecting your hair growth, they won't. But I really wouldn't bother with them at this point. Give it another 2-3 months and see where you stand. You're experiencing the worst part of the treatment now at 2 months but trust me, it gets better. I started the same treatment as you (minus the Nizoral) and it practically obliterated my hair from front to back within the first 2 months. But I stuck it out and 5.5 months later I've made some good progress.

I certainly hope it will be the case with me :)

That's like NRW 3 with thinning.
Yep , that's the thing, I don't feel like I have lost that many hairs, but I do feel like they're all so thin that my scalp has become easily visible through the hair...

PS. I did lose most of my hair already, it's obvious, but I know a guy with similar hair density whose scalp you can barely see, just because his hair is thick.
