Re: James' Story - (25)- Month 1 Update Pics inside.

yeah its nice stuff. Eh i would put the minoxidil on in the morning and then apply the fibres and then at night just put on the minoxidil as you are doing. Or if you have time give your head a quick wash before bed and apply it just before you jump into bed.

Caps or hats wont affect it. Make sure to wahs your hair everyday to make the scalp perfect for minoxidil apps.

Hows life on the finasteride then?? all well?? hows your mindset with your hair these days??

Re: James' Story - (25)- Month 1 Update Pics inside.

Yeah, got to offer some thanks for the head’s up with regards to the shampoo- to be honest, I’d been looking for a consistent shampoo for a while and this probably fits right in. I’d been using the American Crew Revitalize stuff for months before that and nizoral, but nizoral can hardly be used everyday really!!

I’m not really able to throw the minoxidil on twice a day, the morning is difficult so I’m sticking to once in the evening. I was more concerned about it being rubbed off if I wear a cap say, 30 minutes or so after applying the minoxidil? I would’ve throught if it’d all go to the cap. Bedtime is a similar concern.

What I’ve been doing is applying the minoxidil around 8pm at night after my evening run, on top of the nanofibres- meaning that I don’t have to look relatively bald in front of my housemates for the rest of the night.

Life with finasteride itself is fine, no side effects and the routine of that is something I’m happy with so far. I’m seeing that as something that’ll see the benefit within a year rather than a few months, whereas I’m hoping the minoxidil will give me something within 4-6 months. Mindset with my hair is still dodgy, I can’t go out without a hat or nanofibres applied- it’d ruin me, I’ve got to admit. With the fibres applied, I’m generally okay, paranoid though that it’s evident to everybody else and that the colour doesn’t mix with my natural colour. Sometimes it just ‘clicks’ and I’m fine with it...hate the thought of people looking over me though and seeing...

Half tempted to go for a buzzcut down to a 2 and see what thats like but even then I worry that I’ll look stupid with that, especially as I don’t have the hairline to pull it off.

Re: James' Story - (25)- Month 1 Update Pics inside.

Its a good shampoo for everyday use and what i use.No complaints with it and its nice to know it has ingredients in it such as caffiene, zinc and tocos that is doing the hair good.

You might be safer going for the minoxidil foam. It dries pretty much instantly after you rub it in good. In terms of the liquid, im no expert but after half an hour i would expect all the minoxidil that would absorb into the scalp to have been and so wearing a hat wudnt be an issue.

Good to hear you are doing well on finasteride. And yes its a long process to see results with it. PLus remember that its keeping all your minoxidil growth and orignal hair from hopefully falling out!!lol

Buzz cut... a good idea. Here are the good points. You may love it for a start but even if you dont.. having the short hair will mean you will not be wary of shedding and so it doesnt knock your confidence. Topicals are easy to apply and you wont have to use as much shampoo. Plus if you wear out the buzz for few months until your treatments have had a time to work you can grow out your hair and may very well be shocked at how better it looks longer again.

Oh and i forgot to say, with the foam, a morning app will be very achievable then. You could put it on and your scalp wont be greasy and oily like the liquid. Throw on your fibres and ud be good to go mate.

I’ll have a look into the foam, it might be a good option to be honest, especially if it does dry out quicker as you say. I’ve got around another couple of months with the liquid so might just get the majority of that used and take it from there really. Noticed that the foam seems to reduce the chances of the dreaded itchy scalp as well, which would be even better.

I’ve tried a number 2 buzzcut once around 3 months ago and it wasn’t too bad for the first 1-2 weeks really, would just have to maintain it constantly. The only thought is with the shedding as it is now, getting a 2 all over might highlight the patches that have shedded quite a bit even more. Definitely an option though and I can see where you’re coming from with it.

Cheers for the help again mate, how’s your progress going? Not even aware of where you are in this wild river of hair loss! I take it from your earlier posts that you’re not in the UK? American....?

im doing fine ..i think. My hair is still good.. I caught this sh*t early. Some people here think im over reacting but when your hair starts to go its better to start treatment early or you end up chasing rather than supressing it.

finasteride is doing well for me. I got some instant regrowth but im going through shed now which was expected. check my story out.

No im not from america lol. what made you think that??lol. Im from uk aswell. Originally from n.i but now living in manchester.

I've got to agree with you there- I started using minodoxil in 2005 when I first started noticing what was going on (albeit at a slow rate), but a combination of lack of money and the hassle of applying it meant it's always been patchy. It's got to this stage, just over three years later where it's snapped and I've got more money to throw at something like this. I wish I'd have started sooner and been more constant with it.

Ah, sorry, didn't realise you were in the UK....just the impression I got!!

British through and through. Though im considering actually moving to america soon after i graduate. well see what happens.

I think the worst part of hairloss is not knowing what will happen. Like with me for example..i may have a decent head of hair still and the meds may work but deep down you know it is there and at any second could just f*** you over lol. Only time will tell where i end up.

Ah, nice one! So I wasn't completely wrong then! What are you due to graduate in? I can't say I'm a massive fan of America although there are parts I would like to see one day.

I think one of the biggest things that drags you down regarding hairloss is the mental aspect, I think thats just as difficult as the physical aspect. I do see fellas with buzzcuts who's hair is obviously receded but they pull it off really well and look confident about it, I think the mental aspect is something I'm lacking in and always have been for the last 3-4 years with it.

Yours seems a decent baseline anyway mate and as you say, you're not chasing it so you're already one step ahead.

Out of interest, seeing as though you're in the uk? how much are you shelling out for your propecia?

Nothing concrete yet (was tempted to put a photo up, but will probably leave it for now)...but I’m getting a feeling that its starting to work. Just a feeling I get looking at my hair washed without anything in it and it looks thicker...to me anyway. It’s far from perfection, but it looks to be an ever so-slight start possibly.

Re: James' Story - (25)- Month 1 Update Pics inside.

Well, month 2 is just finished and I'll leave uploading a photograph until month 3 I think.

God, I'm feeling pretty fed up at the moment though, been like that for the last few days and can't snap out of it. I've been applying the nanofibres as usual and then sun has came out and now I'm realising what it looks like in the sunshine and the paranoia has kicked in now. I applied this morning to go into town shopping and dreaded the sun coming out and everyone seeing this stupid head full of powder effectively....I'm now constantly worrying as to how it looks in certain light too, I'm starting to get obsessed by it.... :badmood: :/

Re: James' Story - (25)- Month 1 Update Pics inside.

God, what a moaning eejit I must have sounded there, sorry guys.

Anyway, still trying to slightly adjust to this sunshine being out and how it makes the nanofibres look....but it's getting there and trying to put it to the back of my mind really for now...bum bum tish...

As for the natural hair, nearly at the end of month 3 and weird at the moment, I'd gone through a stage in the last couple of weeks of the itching being reduced but it seems to have come back again. I can see little hairs starting to develop in isolation in the gaps in my forehead but I guess I'm worried that all my scratching is going to rip them out! There's definite thickening on the top of my head but doesn't seem as good on the back (well, the crown, so far). I'm looking forward to this weekend when I'll get it knocked down to a #2 by my lovely barber again and can see how it looks from there at the 3-month point.

Oh, and I'm stocked up with another 6months worth of finpecia now which only set me back around £55! :) minoxidil is running out soon though (even though I only apply it at night) so may or may not go on the foam...

Hey... give us a couple of days and I'll work on something for you. That ok? :)

With buzzing it down to a 2 now, I can see that there is progress there- not as fast as I would like- but I can see something happening...I'll be intrigued as to what it will be like come, say, end of June. I hope there'll be more to come.

Re: James' Story - (25)- 3 months in on the Big 3.

Sorry about the delay, I'll try and sort the pics out for you.

Things are definitely still working well here, it's not going as quickly as I'd like, obviously. But things are definitely picking up, hair is thickening up in areas and I'm getting to a stage of hoping soon of being able to go out without nanofibres and/or a cap

Re: James' Story - (25)- 3 months in on the Big 3.

Hi guys, just coming up to the 4th month today and took a few pictures so thought I'd throw them up on here and see what you think so far. Something is definitely happening anyway although the side of my fringe is still a bit 'wonky', my hair has recently been cut down and this was just after a shower and they're not comparable to previous pictures in terms of lighting and that, but please, opinions would be great :)
