Hi guys,

Ive been to two different dermatologists this month.

Both of them DID NOT PRESCRIBE finasteride for me.

And then I ask: WHY?

Why doctors dont prescribe this medicine????

They said the side efects are huge and bla bla bla.

I ask again: Do they tell it cause it is really dangerous or sometimes they dont really have a deep understandig of what is this medicine?

Thanks for your ideas...

I really dont know if I continue treatment...Tell me abou your experience...

I never had a problem, but I suspect with all the buzz lately about finasteride sides, many more doctors will refuse to prescribe this medication.

Try visiting just a regular clinic or GP indead of a derm.

I started treatment right at the beginning of this year.. I've regrown most of my crown and gained a ton of thickness all over, in 3 months, with no side effects. All in all, i'm very happy with Finasteride.

There are a group of individuals claiming permanent sexual dysfunction from taking Finasteride, and the media has recently taken wind of it. It remains to be seen what will come of it, but I personally believe it is a very safe drug with a long-term proven safety track record.

However, I believe there is always a risk with taking any drug, and it should be weighed out before you decide to start. For me, the benefits far outweigh the risks. It is by far the best treatment out there right now; simple, painless, cheap, well tolerated and extremely effective.

Really? I'm actually very impressed you could pick up on that! I guess some of the terminology and verbiage slipped into my subconscious. Bravo.

He seems like a stand-up guy. I am mostly interested in the comments; he seems to be constantly berated by certain individuals mainly on anything finasteride related, but he isn't shy to post everything and anything relating to the subject; positive or negative. I'm not sure what the story is about that ongoing feud, but it is definitely interesting!

However, he is frigging expensive. $8 a graft aint cheap. I enjoy my hair, but I don't think it would ever come to me spending more than a new car on getting a hair transplant.. I guess I need a new car though, mine is 16 years old.

I guess the real question is : how is your hairloss?

Pretty much no doctor will prescribe it unless your loss is really detectable, which is both a curse and a blessing.

Thank you very much indeed Wuffer and Finfigher.

Rutt, my hair loss is detectable. They didnt prescribe cause they dont think

having hair is worth over my health. Pretty much like this.

I will restart the treatment with 0.5 g/day from monday...

I took 1 gram per day for the last 2 months. I fell my libido a

bit affected but I still dont know if it is just a fruit of my imagination and the

fact that Im using this medicine.

Same thing for me it really depends on the derm. I went to one a long time ago and the assistant person said nothing can be done for hairloss. Then the derm just said you have plenty of hair dont worry about it. I saw a different derm who actually knew something and he said even though it looks like I have lots of hair you need to lose 50 percent of your density before its even really noticeable to anyone. He wrote me a prescription, but I decided to just wait and watch it. He said it was perfectly safe and he had tons of guys using it with no real side effects reported to him. It truly comes down to a coin flip on what they know and just there opinions right or wrong on medication for hair loss which a lot of them do not seem to think is important.
Of course if someone would actually FDA approve a good topical like ascj 9 we could go and grab off the shelf like rogain and prevent hair loss then all of this crap would be over with. I dont know anyone that wants to mess with their hormones over using a topical although a topical is a pain to use and might be expensive.
