Hi everyone,

I have just signed up but have been browsing this site for quite a while now. I'm 18 and noticed receding at my temples when i was 16 and a half :(.

I would say im a norwood 2 at the moment and would like to keep what i have, which i have read is possible. All i do at the moment is oil my hair twice a week and massage.

Propecia sounds like my best bet, but have gone off the idea after reading stories regarding side effects.

I wanted to know how well minoxidil would work? and have read about Topical Spironolactone combined with revivogen which sounds like it would do the same job of propecia?

If left untreated in 3 years time what would you guys expect my norwood to be?

Are there any new treatments coming out within 5 years, like a topical finasteride?

I have read norwood 2 cannot get a transplant, how bad would my hairloss have to be in order to have FUE? and after will the rest of the hair continue to recede or bald?

sorry but the number of questions guys im just really confused! LOL

If your serious about stopping it, then you have to take propecia. Your worries about the sides are valid, but most men do not get them. As long as you stop the drug "immediately" After you experience sides, you will not experience them permanently.

A lot of people with permanent sides, for the most part, Ignored their sides for quite some time.

Rogaine will help, but propecia will attack the route cause. If your experiencing hairloss at your age, then it's aggressive, and rogaine isn't enough on it's own.

Revivogen cannot do what propecia can, Even the positive results are mixed. It personally did nothing for me when I quit propecia and switched to revivogen.

As for new treatments. That's really unknown, there are new ones in development but there always are. Whether or not these ones will actually prove to work and make it out of trials is a dice roll.

ORLY Owl reporting in.

Like you alluded to after that, not everyone w/ "permanent" sides ignored the adverse reaction. I did exactly what you recommend there and was f*cked. 3 years no sex drive, ED, etc. and I'm still in the dumps. Just saying, that's not guaranteed.

You're young, and you know the risks. I would try those other options.

I bet if a really hot woman asked you out you would miraculously recover your sex drive.

LOLL im going to see my GP soon, and im thinking about propecia, taking a quarter of the pill to start with then upping the dose every week or two. As soon as i get any sides im not the type to carry on, so if i quit straight away nothing permanent should happen right?

can anyone answer my question on hair transplant, whats the minimum norwood i have to be to be able to have one? I really dont want to have to go uni next yr with a shaved head :S LOL

I agree. You'll notice however I didn't say everyone, I said "mostly"
Curious though, What have you done to treat your sex drive deficiencies?

There's just no point in treating aggressive hairloss with revivogen. Your just wasting your money. Either be serious about it and attack the hairloss, or learn to live with it. Although if you could just live with it... You wouldn't be here.

Although mixing in revivogen with finasteride could be beneficial. Although I'm unsure of how minoxidil and revivogen work together.
