Hi, i've been on propecia for seven months and minoxidil for six, i also have been using various supplements (multivitamins, green tea, msm, fish oil) for about four months...anyways now that, that's out of the way, recently i have noticed a recession not only in my temples but on the hair on my neck and a behind my ears as well as an overall thinning (no real progress to speak of just a constant shed.) I don't really read a lot about people receeding on the back of the neck and behind the ears is this normal?

Hmmmm...member5959, this type of recession does not seem normal. I would expect that the areas that you mention are in the "safe" zone from male pattern baldness. It may be Telogen Effluvium? Who knows? Check with a qualified derm that knows what they're talking about.

Hi member5959,
I'd concur with greg1 - go to a qualified derm. BTW, recession on the back of the neck does sometimes occur in male pattern baldness. I've noticed that many NW7 (I spotted one NW7 guy wearing a wig, it was so damn obvious, no hair on the back of the neck, no temple hair, very thin hair on the sides, but with thick hair on top!) guys seem to have longer necks than usual - why? Bcoz the hair on the nape of the neck has receded and thinned. Also the hair above and just behind the ears is sparse.
So get this checked out IMMEDIATELY - it MAY be Telogen Effluvium, but it may also be an indicator of future extensive male pattern baldness. So get it checked out by a qualified derm.
Cheers and best of luck,
Arjun
