Red Meat, biotin in Eggs, etc., Lack of...? Advice please

Hi guys, I was ill about 3 months ago with bad stomach problems, and things like chicken, red meat, and eggs I've avoided ever since because they affected it. So i've literally been off them for 3 months, totally...

Question is, am I imagining a hugely accelerated loss of hair in these last few weeks because I've been off them and it's now caught up with me, Or is their truth in it, like biotin in eggs etc, iron in meat, and the lack of, could have caused this?

I've been going mad last few weeks wondering why I've lost so much hair, but I've only just realised today, that I've not had an egg, red meat, chicken, etc. for 3 months.

Will supplements help and if so can you tell me what I should be taking now to combat this?

Thanks

Yea dude, I had to cut some weight this summer (I do MMA). Limiting your diet definitely affects the quality of your hair. I did not experience a massive shed, but the hairline def gotten weaker. You could try those 'Hair for Men' multivitamins from Walmart/Safeway, they got ****load of biotin, saw palmetto, iron, zinc and other stuff in them. Definitely thickened my existing hair, it looks good right now.

veggie

I'm a vegan. I definitely take supplements like biotin. I would also HIGHLY recommend incorporating a few BRAZIL NUTS into your diet everyday. Since I am a vegan there are certain foods that I eat to accommodate my hair. I love to take down 1-2 avocados a day too for the VITAMIN D. In my OPINION, going vegan has had overall benefits for my body and my hair but this is NOT to say that one can have a bad vegan/veggie diet. If a diet is bad and you are not getting the necessary nutrients, whether you eat meat or not, your body will be the first to show it. My girlfriend works at a local food cooperative and does a decent amount of research on supplements. She got me BIOSIL because it is more likely to be absorbed into the body, if I remember her reasoning correctly. Remember, taking a vitamin D supplement is nothing like eating an avocado.

Do you know how many bugs are killed during a brazil nut picking operation? :woot:

I've read articles too on "studies" being done showing how many bugs etc can be found in produce etc.

While the above is true..I'm just having some fun with you :)

I would bring eggs back into your diet.. I know they are good for everything.. The meats you were eating were producing an acidic environment, but eggs are pretty neutral and a great source of protein... You might consider out of three eggs only using one yolk.

Did you cut out meat altogether, Think I should have taken this stuff earlier huh

Brazil nuts, not heard that one, better than sunflower seeds for sure! Not heard of Biosll?

Does it make a difference on fried or boiled?

can I please ask you guys in the know to check these multi vits, and B complex and let me know if it's enough to combat this massive shed?

Is it enough Biotin, or MSM of which I have no clue but have read about on here before, and do they make a difference. And is Zinc needed.

I know a lot of people say vitamins make no difference but I think I'm proof at the moment that no eggs and meat do upset the levels somewhere? I've not drunk a glass of milk since I was a kid, I hate it, so know idea about that one

This is the Multi ingredients

I personally dont think diet makes any difference whatsoever to hair loss in any way shape or form. Purely coincidental just like flipping a coin 10 times and getting 8 heads would make you think 80 percent of time you get heads which is not really true it just worked out that way this one time.Diet is good for you but dont link things together just from what you notice because instincts are not always true.

really? I don't know so much, coincidence, cutting out meat and dairy and 3 months time you have lost loads of hair. Not convinced there isn't something in this?

Can anyone advise on the Biotin/MSM thing please, or Zinc, and whether this has helped, hindered anyone?

alec baldwin doesnt eat any meat. have you seen his hair?

Great... so he probably takes vits, He looks like a health freak

My question didn't really ask what vegetarians have great heads of hair, It was asking what vits do people take who don't do dairy and meat.
Let's talk Paul McCartney if you're going that route. His dad was completely bald, and ate meat too.

Has anyone got anything a tad more constructive?

I just think if you are meant to be bald, you will be, no matter what food you chose to/not to eat. Good healthy diet can benefit you in general and maybe can slow down hair loss (?) but it's all in your genes!.....I see many athletes with good diet have a balding head and homeless people/drug addicts living on the street have a thick shiny hair.

In your case, it maybe be temporary. Go and talk to your doctor and also see if you have a family history of hair loss.

Look, no one is saying that a good diet can singlehandedly cure baldness. But A BAD DIET can certainly contribute to whatever thinning/hairloss you have. I DID the extreme diet in the past, dropped like 10 pounds in 2 weeks, but the hair definitely looked weaker at the end of those 2 weeks lol

I've done docs, not found one who gives a ****, or knows anything on the subject, and that's why I rely on you guys...
The family thing doesn't really work for me, some are some aren't. The Mother's father bit doesn't add up either, he had loads of hair...

Yes, I'd definitely say it's a contributing factor. What are the BIG no nos when it comes to hair for eating, does anyone know what to avoid and what is proven to harm?

In the times where I ate the most liver and eggs, that was when my hair growth was the fastest. I'm talking strictly increase in the length of hair, not actual growth of new hair.
