Reducing the Dose. Help!

I have been on the big three for ten weeks but recently stopped propecia (1.25mg). While I was on propecia I stopped losing hair by week 2-3.

The reason I stopped taking it is because I lost my morning wood at around week 8 and after that my erections were pretty week. So, about 5 days ago I quit.

Since quitting I've started to shed again (literally over the last 48 hours). Could this be from quitting propecia or is it from minxoidl?

Also, I do want to take propecia - I'm just scared of losing my erection. Has anyone reduced their dose and been successful both in terms of fighting hairloss and in terms of reduced sides?

I have less morning woods, but never had issues with erections.. i think the dosage won't make much of a difference, since very small doses (say 0.2mg) block almost the same DHT as 1mg.

I have found lowering the actual daily dose does lil for side effects, but staying at your full dose but going every other day helps with side effects alot. When i lowered my dose and did eod my hair started going down hill after a couple weeks. My advice is do your full 1.25 eod or try two days on finasteride one day off or routines like that until you find What's right for you. I know its impossible, but whatever you try, be as consistent as you can. I literally just went through this finding my right dose. My side effects are different, but id imagine it could work for yours as well. Good luck! -Anthony

it could be the minoxidil, but from what i just went through, i believe its at least partially from rising dht levels. My hair seems to be bouncing back though pretty quick from adequate finasteride dosing again

So taking propecia 1mg four times a week will help by body adjust and reduce sides?

I might just try it if it works

Thanks. Tbh I've just started taking 1mg a day now. I'm sure I was just paranoid.

I've been on propecia for two months with a recent five day break - will that ruin any progress?

nah, five days is okay, should worry after a month or so.

Thanks, that means I've been on it for 8 weeks now. Maybe I'll start seeing results by the summer time. I've seen a few people get good results after four-five months

my hair quality improved after about a month so you could def start seeing benefits by summer in my opinion

I'm 32M and been on finasteride for 2.5 months. My experience is when I first started with 1mg got hit pretty bad with sides. Then I stopped for 2 weeks. I restarted with a lower dose of 0.25mg for 2 weeks. Then 0.25mg for 5 days and 0.5 for 2 days. Now I'm on 0.5mg ED. I got my morning wood back but not as strong as it used to be. But enough to make me happy in the morning. I make sure I hit the gym pretty hard and also take horny goat weed and l-arginine (hope they are helping too). Not planning on going to 1mg since my hairloss stopped. No point on over dosing further. Just start slowly and move up. Give time for the body to get used to it.
