was at boots today and noticed they have Regaine Gel! Has anybody used it? I was hoping it would be the foam, since it looked like a new package but looking at it closely it said Regaine Gel for Men 2%. Wonder if that is comparable to the foam, e.g. is it easier to apply then the liquid? Does it have a higher success rate then the liquid (as the foam does)? Could not find any information about it on regaine website.

Anybody using the gel, please share your experience!

thanks

EDIT: just found the gel featured on the Switzerland regaine website, supposedly the gel is specially made for the temple, hairline area!

That sounds interesting, I wonder why it's not 5%?

They have this for sale in all the Hong Kong pharmacies.
I was going to ask if anyone knew anything about this but there's decent enough information on the Regaine site.

Sounds wacky.

Never heard of the gel, no. But the clinic in London does have a 12.5% strength cream that they sell 'for those stubborn areas'.

How come Boots have the gel and not the foam?

I don't think you'll find many if any users of that stuff on this forum. Since it's only marketed and sold overseas along with the fact that it's only 2% strength is probably a deterrent for most. Just my opinion, though, maybe someone here uses it.

I'm guessing this gel is going to be pretty nasty and pointless stuff.

If its only 2%..... I can't see who would want to buy this instead of the 5% foam/liquid.

For the gel to be truly effective, obviously you will need to apply directly to the scalp.
Here are the problems I foresee:

a.) Depending on the consistency of the gel, it's going to be fairly difficult to apply it directly to the scalp and bypass the hair, thus making it more time consuming and laborious to apply.

b.) As a result of the above, you will probably end up using uneccessary amounts of gel which will end up costing you more $$$ in the long run.

c.) I'm pretty adamant once the gel is applied, it will make your hair look even thinner and more f**ked up. Even once it has dried, chances are it will turn all gunky and gross and may even causing scalp 'flaking' (as does the liquid.)

d.) What is the point of putting up with above when it is only 2% effective ?!??!!

Unless anyone on here has actually tried this stuff and can vouch for it's success, I'd say stick with the foam. Its easy to apply, it's cheaper, it doesn't f**k your hair up once dried and its full strength.

5% isn't wildly more effective than 2% - it's all about penetration and if the gel enhances that significantly it might be worth trying, especially for non-responders who need all the options they can get.
