Regrowth at the temples after STOPPING minoxidil

Just in case anyone is interested - I used minoxidil on my temples for just over a year. Never had any results and was shocked when i shaved my head how much the one temple had cut into my hair but was suspicious when it seemed too 'cut in' just where i had sprayed the rogaine.

Anyway, have been off it since October 1st and am just now getting some hairs regrowing there - a few have turned darker.

Be careful of that stuff.

The only other thing that I can think has helped is using nizoral 2% twice per week - but i was using this for 6 months while on the minoxidil.

Having said all this - I don't think that my hair is thicker all over - in fact it has MAYBE thinned more elsewhere but i never used minoxidil elsewhere anyway.

I also stopped minoxidil, and I strongly feel it killed a lot of my hair on the front and on my temples. At first I thought it was just a shed but it's never recovered.

I made a thread a while back discussing as to whether minoxidil can let more testosterone in to your scalp, so i guess it depends on whether you're a high T producer, which I think I am, because you'd then have to weigh that up with the amount of nutrients you're getting to your follicle.

I really wish I hadn't used minoxidil.

I'm just over 3 months on it. I know it's early but I have taken a big hit in the temple area. I hope it grows back.

The reason why everyone MEN/WOMAN loses hair , secret that i am telling all of you , cause enough is enough of hiding this , TRUST ME ON THIS ! . i know people that do this for a living/job, its done totally underground , no one ever finds out or believes this . They do this by aiming electromagnetic waves energy/radiation remote at you/everyone and your hair gets brital and dry , and eventually it falls off . This is something extremely hard to believe , but this is what they use to make hair fall off and make money . All they have to do is put transmitters and recievers that go in your body/skin not always this way but most of the time is what they use and they aim the electromagnetic at you 24/7 it works by remote , they can do it from another building/somewhere else , you would not believe how this can be done , but it is happening. I can guarantee that you get most of these symtoms -- 1.split ends, dry, brittle, coarse ,lighter hair, itching , scalp itch , a weird feeling like pulse/chill on scalp ,you will also feel like you feel something moving in your scalp or hair , heat around your hair/scalp/head , ect, ect, ect. this is hard to believe people , but this is what's happening as we speak. they are trying to keep this a major secret from the public , and trust me they are doing a wonderful job threating people who are whare of this scam/technology . PLEASE PEOPLE BELIEVE ME , I AM NOT GOING TO TELL YOU A FIB OR SAY THIS CAUSE I WANT TO SCARE ANYONE , I AM TELLING THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH ! it sounds kind of nuts , but this is how they are doing it (HAIR LOSS) .

So who are "they", the new world order? And they've been doing it for thousands of years right? Caesar had male pattern baldness. They did it to him too. You have some mental issues you need to get checked.

Please tell me you are joking. If not, your carer shouldn't let you onto the internet to type such idiocies.

Sorry if you already answered this elsewhere; were you on finasteride when you started losing hair cos of minoxidil? Freaks me out that something approved for regrowing hair can make you lose it, not sure I want to be using it now...

Not at the time, no. I've been on finasteride since september and tried using minoxidil again, but after a couple of uses i noticed a big shed when washing my hair, although i was very inconsistent with the minoxidil (mainly because of my fear of losing my hair like i did previously on it)

plus, i think if minoxidil wasn't giving me results without finasteride, the results on it aren't going to be great either. and so far the finasteride hasn't halted my hairloss, may have slowed it down, i'm not sure, so with minoxidil it will only worsen.

this is the thread where i asked a similar question ...

viewtopic.php?f=42&t=69599

and also, there's a thread on another forum where some people were discussing another topical solution and the owner of the company came into the thread. he said he's been a trichologist for about 20-30yrs i think it was, and also said the same thing that i said - how he thinks at the same time minoxidil lets in more blood and nutrients to the scalp, it also lets in more testosterone.

Cheers mate. The risk of using minoxidil without finasteride was where I was going. But I'm thinking it must be a small risk otherwise it'd be advised more frequently to take both together.

yeah, it probably is a small risk, but if you see a rapid shed on your temples and hairline and see no new hairs from the same place some time later, you'd be wise to stop the minoxidil. when i went through the shed, i carried on using minoxidil in the hope my hair would grow back, but it never has.

I actually never noticed a minoxidil shed - it just stayed the same and didn't appear to be working. Gradually over time I'd noticed my temples had got worse.

They're nowhere near as good as previously but there are definitely hairs growing darker now that were struggling to grow with the minoxidil.

I actually don't really understand why people use t when it's been shown that hair retrns to baseline within a few years anyway if there is success - maybe i'm wrong, i dunno.

I've been looking at other topicals that use plant and fruit stem cell ingredients.

http://www.phytostem.com/web/StemCellSe ... aging.aspx is one i want to try when i have the money. the owner of that company was the trichologist i was on about who posted in one of the other forums and explained as to why he's put them ingredients in. his theory of male pattern baldness is based around the lypmphatic system.

I am also hight T producer and in the last 5 months it completely destroyed my hairline and its still destroying my hairline (no decreased sheddimg or regrowth) Do you think i should stop using minoxidil?

I am on finasteride 2 months now

I knew this was going to be good right from the first sentence. It's a shame this dude apparently got banned, he was creative. I take it "they" are Merck, GSK, and J&J. What I don't understand is how they are able to do this cheaply enough to make a profit when most of the people they do it to either would've gone bald anwyays or use generics, and those that do buy their products are not paying much because the patents have long expired. It doesn't seem like it would be a profitable way of generating new customers. Oh well, he told us to trust him.
