Guest, thanks for restoring my faith that at least some people question the traditional, systematic nonsense of organized religion.

Scuffernose, I feel bad for you. It's mentalities like yours that are causing so many problems in the world. So if there is only one 'path' to truth, everyone who doesn't follow it is wrong? Wake up man. Stop accepting what was spoon fed to you and try thinking for yourself.

how do you know ? can you reply to that question ? with a clear answer, not one of the stock "how do you know a god does not exist ?" evassive answers common in these kinds of discussions.

Clear, simple question.

How do you know an omnipotent god is a reality ?

Do your parents pray to the same god as you by any chance ?

oh is this going to be fun.

first of all, lets first realize that organized religion is simply a group of people who believe the same thing. and what people believe or interpret is sometimes going to be different. but religion is not what god expects. FAITH is what god expects. belief in him and what he says being true. organized religion is simply grouping people on what they believe is the truth. but unfortunately there is only one truth. so to believe that all religions are correct, is wrong. there is only ONE god, and only ONE true word of god. and its not about associating yourself with a religion that you believe is correct. its about finding the truth and believing in his word, then getting to know god through his word.

now how do you know what his word is, or if it is correct, or which one is right?? well, you have to believe that although men wrote the book, if god does exist, and he wants people to hear him and know him, then you have to believe that an all powerfull god could certainly use man to write his word. not as they see it, but as it is. and correctly. you have to believe that like a pen, man was simply the instrament inspired by god, and that he would make sure by devine power that this word could survive generations and be translated accurately. do you really believe an all powerfull god would not be able to get his word to survive and be correctly translated for all to hear?? there is ONE bible that all others are either are translated from, or modified to create another religion.

now this brings us to what the correct religion is, and what the correct book is. this is a touchy subject, but just like many, i used to believe that although i belonged to a specific religion, all of them were pretty much on the right track. this is where i was wrong because i was fooled just as many are.

if you believe in god, then you have to believe in satan. and according to the bible, satan has reign over this world for now. and his job is to take as many people to hell as possible. now if most of the world is religious in one form or another, then what would be the best most sneakiest way to do it?? in my opinion, it would be to influence people and create many different alterations of the ONE TRUTH, because god is a jealous god, and he wants his word UNALTERED because he gave it to us perfectly and exactly the way he wanted it. according to gods word, it is important to believe in him and what he says is perfect and true to get to heaven. but if you believe in a religion that has altered his word in any way, or takes focus off him, you are in danger of breaking that rule. there is ONE word of god, and to believe anything that has been altered or different is not believing in god. it is false belief. besides all the things that are out there, like PRIDE, and things that influence you to take your sight off god (like hair), there also is religion, that leads you down the wrong path. all works of satan to keep you from entering god kingdom. god says he is a jealous god and commands you to worship only him. if your worship of him comes from a religion that has altered his word the way he gave it, and what he tells us about him, then you are not worshipping the correct god, you are worshipping mans idea of god. that is a false idol.

god knows man is not perfect and he is going to disobey. that is why he sent the savior. that goes for us, as well as killers, rapists, and even people who use fear of god to manipulate and control people like religious figures. even the best religious figures are going to disobey because they have a sinful nature. but there are religious figures that use god to lead people down the wrong path. these are not men controlled by god, but rather by the slickest lier in existance, satan. when a guy like jerry fallwell? or jim baker use god for their own personal gain, and dont represent god the way god tells you to, dont be thrown off into believing this is what god wants. this is satan at his best. unlike some religious figures who condemn people, god loves all his creatures, but condemns sin only. if you sin, god is comdemning that sin, and not the person. sin is sin in his eyes. there is no level of sin. that means that rape and lying are just as evil in gods eyes even though they are punshed differently by man. god is perfect and without sin, and it doesnt change in his eyes. even a good and caring person is in just as much danger of entering hell as a murderer if both have not asked for forgiveness and given their lives to god for their sins.

but is it enough just to believe?? well, to those of you who have a girlfriend, is it enough for you to just SAY you love them?? if you truely do love them, it will show. if you truely believe in something, and love it TRUELY, then you cant help but to want to live a way that shows. that doesnt mean you arent going to make mistakes, it just means that you are going to try your hardest to correct them. you are still a human with a sinfull and selfish nature and god knows this and forgives you if you ask him because he loves you. satan will try to distract you with everything he can, because god has given him reign. and hairloss and self worth are ways that satan uses to take your focus off god. that is why god doesnt "save" you from your hairloss. this place is not a believers home, and when looking at it from the standpoint of eternity, this is just a blink of an eye that we have to go through, and with satan in power, he will try everything he can. but a believer must stand strong and know that when you are hurting god hurts for you, but allows you to go through things to bring you closer to him and whats REALLY important. its not the physical things. we are on this earth for ONE real reason. its not to have fun, but to serve god. life is only our test, and through god, life can be fun.

i look all around me, and i cant possibly believe that things could exist the way they do, and the miracles of life are possible without a higher power in existance. but to believe that there is an all-powerfull, you have to believe that it is the truth that there is ONE correct word of god, and that what he says is true. if you are a believer, then this is the closest to hell you will ever come. if you arent, then this is as close to heaven you will ever come. if there is no god, then you are in luck, that all you have to do is wait for death, and this life of depression and sin will be over. but if you are wrong, and there is a god, then you are in big eternal trouble, and there is no second chance, because god has made sure EVERYONE has the opportunity to find the truth in their lifetime. possibly this post right here. what they do from there is their decision. there is truth out there, and the best way is to find out for youself and make sure you have the ONE right one.

Man,... I don't know how old you are, but this is such an immature way of thinking about things. Go and live in a big town where you can meet people of different origins, different political opinions, different religions, read different books, stop watching Fox news, learn a foreign language,... and please, expand the span of your views and experience. You may lose some of your manicheist rigidity.

I am considering converting to a Jehovah's Witness after I get into p**rn. The duality and contrast would be AWESOME.

lets touch on a few responses.

all i can say, is that if you have formed your opinions by watching religion, and religions icons, and decided what religion is for you, by watching falable human beings, then that is simply satan doing his job. his job is to keep you from the path. this isnt about being apart of the right group of people, this is about faith. being apart of a religious group is not the point of faith. the point of faith is that you believe there is a god, that he wants you to find him, and he has given you all the information you will ever need in this life contained in his word.

i believed the same as many at one point. i wondered if it all could be fake. i wondered which religion is right. i wondered if it didnt matter what religion you belonged to, as long as the concept was the same. i was brought up to believe in the bible, but i wondered if it was the right thing to believe. and it wasnt untill i sought the answers that i found the truth. i didnt go in believing that my parents religion was the correct one, and it led me to finding out that it wasnt about the right RELIGION, but about the right word, and having faith in that word.

me, i dont consider myself a part of any religious group. like many, i have lost faith in religious groups. i think that with religion, and using gods name, you can find groups of people who use that to control others, have power, make money, and you can also find some of the most judgemental people that call themselves children of god. and like i said, it had me questioning things also. but that is what satan does. being the former highest of the angels, the guy knows more about religion and how to manipulate it than anyone. im not telling anyone what to believe, im just saying what i believe. and its not in religion. i believe in god, and that the bible is the word of god, and that it is accurate and true, just like god says it is, because of FAITH.

i would simply suggest that if you dont believe in god or wonder what the truth is, and possibly have questions, to find out. dont assume that what you see of religion, or the 2 months you spent going to a church has answered your questions, because when you get away from letting people lead you, and let GOD lead you by the instruction booklet that he gave you, your questions will be answered. thats why i would say it is more important to seek which word you believe in by educating yourself in finding the book, rather than getting up on sunday and listening to people tell you what to believe. but if you dont believe in having a soul that will exist in a heaven or hell, and you are correct, and god is just a myth, then theres nothing to worry about. all i know is that for me, i decided not to take that chance.

this is simply a matter of faith my friend. that is the definition. to have faith and believe in god, you have to belive not only that he exists, but that what he says is true, and that he is powerfull enough to give you an instruction booklet that he wrote using man as an instrament to be without error, and to be passed on to every generation so that nobody will "not have a chance" to find him.

god is not going to appear to you. he will answer your prayers, but sometimes the answer is no. he promised no one happiness in this life. in fact, he said it would be hard because he gave satan reign over the earth, but that this life was only the test for the next. and you either have faith that he exists, and that what he says is without error, or you dont. if you want proof, that kind of eliminates the need for faith doesnt it?? the definate answer to that question goes beyond the physical, but there is an answer. and if i thought it was even a slight possibility that there is a real place where your soul could spend eternity, i would want to have a definate answer. but thats just me.

Just to chime in here.

Why this nonsense about religions needing to 'compete'? In my opinion, there is one God and all the world's religions are an effort to connect to God. All have truth, all are equally valid in my opinion. As a Christian, I respect people of faith, no matter what that faith may be, more than I respect atheists.

The atheists on this board really don't know what they are talking about. I am not saying you are not intelligent nor trying to insult you, but, I am just saying that judging from the canned and predictable responses you give, I get the distinct impression that you just don't UNDERSTAND religion and the role it plays. Religion is inclusive and personal.

The person who, in response to my comment about the popularity of Jesus, retorted with a 'well Islam will soon pass Christianity in numbers' really does not know much about religion either... Jesus is an important disciple in Islam, as my Muslim brothers as well as my Jewish brothers all share a common set of base texts, and despite the politics of the day amongst the political leadership, we share a common spirituality.

what does a big town, political opinions, and religious groups have to do with the truth?? are you telling me that i should listen to what people say, and let them lead me by finding out more about what people believe?? are you assuming from my post that i have never questioned anything, or just decided to flip a quarter?? if the important thing about religion is the concept, then we are all safe. but if you have faith that there IS a god, and that god gave us one book, and didnt need to variate it for different parts of the world and to fit a culture, and that he is powerfull enough to use man as an instrament to make sure that his word was accurate, and would have the chance to reach every single person that ever lives, then you would have to believe that there is ONE truth, and its not about being apart of a religious group, but finding out for yourself what to believe by the words directly from the man himself.

what i believe is written in a book that i have faith god wrote one time by using man as the instrament, errorless and completely, not what people tell me. it wasnt written by my race, culture, or parents. i didnt form my beliefs by watching people, listening to them, or letting them tell me what to believe. in other words, its not organized religion, but a book that stands true no matter what variations of religion spawn off of it.

you are correct in many respects. and all religions ARE in an effort to connect to god. and many religions are in competition with each other. but that is where religion fails. organized religion is not the answer. it needs to be put in perspective. the idea is not that organized religion sets your beliefs. that isnt the intent god had. the intent god had was to give you his instruction booklet, and that you were to congregate with others in worship. this is where organized religion stems from. it is meant for people with similar beliefs to worship together, not to form your beliefs.

when you let man tell you what to believe, you are asking for trouble. and it is no excuse you can fool god with when he asks you why you believed something that someone told you, when what he tells you is directly written in a book. you have to form your beliefs by finding the truth for youself, and not depending on an organization to tell you what you should be doing to please god. god tells you himself. the key is to find the word that god gave you.

the biggest failure of organized religion, is that every one has its own variation of the bible. but according to the bible, to believe in him is to believe in his word. and to believe in a variation would be to believe that his word is incorrect or incomplete and needs revision. you cant believe in god if you dont believe in his word also. to believe in something that is not his exact word, is believing in a false idol because it is a god that man made by altering or varying his word. that is why its important to believe that there is only one truth, and to seek it, because in the end, it will be the difference. this isnt an endorsement for religion. this is an endorsement for the word of god, and faith that there is one word, and that was written by him one time without error. people need to quit looking at if their religious group is correct, and seek what word of god they believe in, because there is only one, and somebody IS right and wrong, even if its me. but the idea that all religions are correct is incorrect.

I disagree 110%. I know that most of organized religion would disagree with me on this one, but that is where humanity is f*****g up.
