restarting minoxidil causes shedding?

After a year of minoxidil and finasteride I stopped minoxidil about five months ago and finasteride about two months ago. A week ago I restarted both. I have noticed shedding like I haven't seen before. Is this normal?
I know shedding supposed to happen but in the year of the regimen I haven't shed like I am now. I haven't even shed after I stopped minoxidil but shedding now. Hmmm. I wonder if there is anything I can do about it.

oh man, that is reassuring! Thanks for the reply. Just to be clear - you go with the regimen, you stop, then you re-start and you experience the shed... I continue daily now and keeping my fingers crossed that it will stop. The weird part is that I haven't seen the shed like that after I stopped minoxidil. Should I maybe up the does of finasteride to 2mg/day?

Just wanted to report back from the front, the shedding has stopped and minoxidil started to work. Remarkably, within two months of restarting the hair is definitely denser. I have been using minoxidil twice a day and applying it quite heavily, about 3ml each time. I will post pictures next. Just wanted to let everyone know to "stick with it." Good luck!
