Rogaine and low cardiovascular endurance? Low energy?

I don't know if it's just me... but I find that when I'm on Rogaine 5%... I have much lower cardiovascular endurance and a 45 minute weight lifting session leaves me without the energy to do a running session afterwards, and I find also, on cardio-only days, I can't run as far or as long on Rogaine as I can when I am off of it. I have been using Rogaine for 3-4 months but just stopped in light of these effects...

Anyone notice this too?

Oh yeah,

Big difference when I am on and off rogaine. I jog and i can't run as far as when I am on rogaine.

Thank you for your reply... I'm surprised that a side effect as serious as this isn't being widely discussed, as this is shows a serious cardiovascular health risk unto itself... and I'm guessing the only way to counter this would be to stop using Rogaine altogether. :shakehead:

This is a definite side effect. I'm out of breath after 2-3 sets in the gym. I nearly pass out after squats.

I suspected it for a while and just recently took a week off from Rogaine. I was in the middle of a workout and suddenly realized I wasn't out of breath for once.

There are many side effects that aren't documented very well. If all I had was scalp irritation, I'd be overjoyed.

FINALLY found someone else !!! My case: I have been playing ice hockey 2-3 times a week for almost 2 years now. In April 2010 I started using Rogain 5% (2x day). All summer long (starting sometime in the spring) I have been having serious issues with my endurance which are comparable to when I first started skating. For those of you who've played hockey, took an extended break, then started again, know the 1st few weeks of hell as you build up your wind/endurance. In the spring time I was at my peak endurance, then seemingly overnight, I was struggling like it was week one all over again. This has been occuring at varying degrees all summer. I get winded and weak wobbly legs, a bit dizzy etc... Sometimes weakness like when you get the flu... and cannot get back anywhere near my peak endurance before summer.

** It just occurred to me last night as I almost passed out on the ice that the timeframe seems to directly coincide with my start of the Rogain treatments.

The question now is whether this is a short term effect (ie.. last night I applied Rogain about 5-6 hours before my skate) which can be controlled by not using on days I skate, OR, is this a long term effect whereby I would need to get off it permanently to eliminate this side effect???

Please chime in if you might have any more info or experience here....

Why don't you stop using it and see if your endurance improves. If so, then it may have been the minoxidil. If not, then you know that probably wasn't it. Just do that simple experiment on yourself.

Wow, guys, this is creepy.

Do you all use the same brand?
Maybe some brands are absorbed more systemically than others...

BUMP

I am currently experiencing this too I have been on rogaine for about 6 months.

I am a 21 year old great shape never had any problems working out, I could always workout for long hours without getting tired.

Recently when doing cardio mainly running, it seems that I can no longer do 3 miles I always get out of breath around 1 and half and my heart rate shoots up. Also my chest hurts slightly.
I stop for a bit catch my breath and keep going but before I could always do 5-6 miles no problem.

I recently noticed this bearly in the past 2 months.

I do always get some slight chest pains when I apply it but quickly go away.

I do not get this pain or lack of endurance when lifting weights though.

I am going off of it for about 3 weeks and see if I return to normal, and will post results.

Reason I think it is minoxidil is because that is the only variable that has changed. My diet and everything else has stayed the same.

Also I did apply about 1.5 ml in the beginning and used to do it about 4-5 times a day but recently stopped that once I read to reduce to 1 ml.
I saw some guy on youtube saying that he soaks his head in minoxidil daily and it has been working so that is why I tried it. I know it was pretty stupid of me.

Only place I apply it is to the widows peak hairline area I am not receding or balding anywhere else.

Hope someone replies.

Also my blood pressure is low already. Maybe due to the fact that I do a lot of cardio and weight training. When I do tests I usually get readings of 115-120.
