Rogaine and Receding Hairline

This may be a recurring question on the board, and if it’s the kind that pops up every few weeks I apologize in advance.

I’m turning 21 in January and have noticed some hair thinning and hairline receding in the past six months or so. So far it has all been in the front, and it’s certainly not terrible yet, but given how thick the rest of my hair is I fear that it’s becoming more and more noticeable.

So, after some research, I ordered four months’ worth of 5% Rogaine… and read on the side of the box that if I have hairloss anywhere aside from the vertex, it may not work. Looks like I didn’t research quite enough. But I know that different treatments work differently for different people.

Thus I am asking: who has tried Rogaine and seen results at the hairline? Halting of shedding, returning hair? And is there any science to it -- “you’re more likely to have it work in front if…?â€

hey zenrcade.....i have been on rogaine for 3 months and i apply it all over my head, not just the vertex....i apply it to my hairline as well and yes, i have seen growth on my hairline....the only reason rogaine cant cay that it can cause growth on the hair line is due to the fact that it was never tested on the hair line, therefore, due to legality reasons, rogaine cant claim that but if u ask anyone else about rogaine on your hair line,,im sure u will get a lot of responses about growth in that area.....if u use rogaine, there is a possiblity you can go through a shed,,,i know i did  ....good luck

Hi, I just joined today too, if you look back over the old posts you will see links to research that tends to suggest that Rogaine and Propecia both can work at the front as well as the vertex but for some reason not quite as well.

Thanks for the replies Stevie and Dave. Did my first application today. My hair’s kind of shaggy right now so I hope more of it got into the scalp than my actual hair.
