i have super diffuse thinning, small bald spot in back, pretty big receding hairline. norwood 3v probably but the former is the best way to describe it.

if i put rogaine foam on the back of my head (small bald spot) and on the front of my head (on top, in between temples) does the minoxidil get absorbed and end up working on the rest of my head, i.e., top of my head, directly on temples?

i'm aware that rogaine is only approved for vertex. i'm aware that if i haven't had hair on temples for years that it's not going to grow back. my question is more about function and absorption than of results.

It only works locally where you apply it and apparently doesn't affect healthy hair adversely. I would still be cautious that you only apply it to certain areas. Imagine you get off minoxidil one day and had applied all on top, that would be one massive shed. Let's say you only apply it in local areas, you know you will only lose the benefits here if you quit.

Agreed also cost wise to even if kirkland is cheap.

If the minoxidil gets into your system and causes additional body/facial hair, maybe it can have the same effect on non treated areas of the head? I have been using 1.5ml minoxidil once a day on my crown for about a month now. Since the third week, when i run my hands down the front of my hair (where no minoxidil is applied), about fifty to sixty hairs fall out. Pre minoxidil i wouldn't get no more than 10, have done this test a number of times. I also notice lots of hairs in the sink when combing the front my hair, never had that before. It makes me wonder if the minoxidil effects non applied regions of the head or my hair loss just kicked into turbo drive. I have been thinning like a snail for 8 years now so that would be kinda of a weird coincidence .

That's very natural Shulk. Minoxidil doesn't just affect the area applied in locally. It will give you regrowth, just hang on to it. The first month is always frustrating as you'll experience more hair loss, that means the medication is working. Give it another month and most likely the hair loss would cease.
