I generally don't join forums...except before trying Rogaine I did go into a few and read what some of my fellow "balding" friends had to say. I felt they forums were useful in my decision to try Rogaine, so I just had to reciprocate by sharing my experience with you all.
Background:
I'm 49, going gray, and was losing my hair by the handful every day. When I toweled off after my morning shower I could literally see my hair falling out. I had more scalp showing than hair. And since my father and older brother are also bald on the top with a bit around the edges, I had to do something and QUICK! So my wife suggested I try Rogaine. OK, now I'm a civil engineer (you know the type, super logical) and extremely skeptical about "topical treatments".
The Treatment:
February - the start. I got a hair cut and started using Rogaine in February of this year (I took a photo of my head prior to starting so I could truly monitor the results). I used it twice a day religiously, and even used more than they said to (not intentionally - it just kind of happened that way).
March - After about a month I thought I saw a few small hairs about 1/2" long...but just couldn't be sure. I got my hair cut and took a photo in exactly the same pose at the same location and distance (remember I'm the logical type). I figured if I always shot the photo after a hair cut it would measure the true hair density and not be disguised by just being longer. Plus this would rule out any abnormal lighting effects or distortion. I just kept to the treatment program and didn't worry about what I perceived as a lack of results.
April - you guessed it, I took a photo after my usual hair cut. To my surprise, I was truly growing new hair and could see definite progress.
May – Same routine. Excellent hair growth; probably a 25% increase in hair growth. And to my (pleasant) surprise the new hair wasn’t all coming in gray! I was actually growing some of the brown hair I had as a youngster. June and July also saw major growth.
August – After a full 6 months of using Rogaine I can say I have truly gained a full 50% increase in hair growth. It’s very impressive, and all of my family members and female friends have noticed too. (The men, especially the ones losing their hair, can’t bring themselves to say anything to me – lol). All I can say is they should lose some pride, spend about $15/month (for the 3-pack), and start looking good too!
Bottom line:
I’m so impressed with the product I just had to share it with you. I hate to sound like a commercial, especially since I’m not receiving any compensation for saying this, but this product has surpassed any of my original expectations and I would recommend it to all of my balding friends. My wife has told me that I look 10 years younger. One thing to keep in mind though, I never tried any imitations or even the liquid. I only use the Rogaine foam.
And if you go into the Rogaine website – you can save yourself $10 on a purchase of a 3-month supply as well!! :woot:
