Rogaine foam... Should I be rubbing it in?

I'll apply it by putting some on my scalp, then rubbing for 3-10 seconds in a clockwise/counter clockwise motion before moving onto another area. Also, after applying all I *think* I need, I'll kinda rub my entire scalp and use my hands to style my hair.

And yes, I wash my hands thoroughly after use.

Yes, rubbing Rogaine foam onto your scalp is essential to help penetrate the skin so it really gets down to the hair follicles. I massage and rub Minoxidil twice daily on my scalp and it's been quite helpful for me at treating my Male Pattern Baldness.

Does the foam leave any visible marks after application, i.e. flakiness, greasiness? Is it and in what regard similar to a regular styling cream?

The Minoxidil foam can leave visible marks if too much is unnecessarily applied. The foam doesn't cause greasiness, though can cause flakiness in some users since the foam dries so quickly. The treatment is applied to the scalp and you can style your hair normally as usual just like any regular styling cream.
