I started using Rogaine Foam and Nizoral 1% earlier this year. Everything was going well for the first 4 months or so (no major growth but I could identify some new hairs at least). I don't use any other products.
Then, the Nizoral shortage happened. I stopped using it for a while and my head got very bad - red splotches, crustiness, occasional bleeding in spots. I tried T-Gel and head and shoulders with no luck. Finally I realized I could order Nizoral 2% from the UK which I did. I stopped the Rogaine for about 3 weeks and let me head heal up while using just Nizoral 2%.
Now, I started to use the Rogaine Foam again, and after only a single application, my head was flaking and burning and red again.
Any ideas are much appreciated. Is it possible that there is something in the 1% that soothes that isn't in the 2? Did it just take me a while to show a reaction to the Rogaine to begin with? Or what's going on here?
