ROgaine NOT the same as REgaine

I just wanted to ask, if anyone has noticed the same thing i had.

I have been using ROgaine (from Austria) for 5 months. I expirienced flaking and increased shedding all the time using it, but I decided to stick with it, because I was seeing some minor fuzzy regrowth on the temples although the hair in the front is getting thinner and still shedding.

Because of the very high price of Rogaine, I decided to order REgaine online from pharmacy2u, which was half of the price I was paying for Rogaine.

After only 1 day of use, flaking decreased, it was like normal dandruff. The next day flaking dissapeared completely.

The shedding reduced noticeably, but it's too early to make conclusions about the decrease of shedding in only 2 days.

It also feels different when I apply it. It's more greasy and dries faster on the skin of the temple. Also the liquid is more yellowish than Rogaine I used before.

Has anyone noticed the same thing? Or did I buy some generic minoxidil in a bottle of Regaine?

The products are certainly different.

ROgaine foam is cheaper than the REgaine foam. If you are talking about the foam though.

Not too long ago someone also noticed the difference and said the ingredients in the two products are even different.

Swopo- although I am not yet using Rogaine/minoxidil myself, I would do as Medium suggests. Time and again I've read that the foam is superior to the liquid (comparing Rogaine vs Rogaine foam). In multiple reports it is suggested that itchiness and flaking disappear once switching to the foam and I've also seen people saying that the foam even grows the hair better (maybe it is absorbed more easily than the liquid).

Thank you for your posts.

Regarding my research, I bet on liquid, because I've seen more posts of people who used both foam and liquid claiming that liquid gives better results, but it's worse cosmetically.
Also I would be afraid to switch to foam, since many people report shedding because of switching minoxidils or even from liquid to foam..

I decided to stick with the product I started with. I switched from ROgaine liquid to REGaine liquid because of the cheaper price and only because everywhere it says, that those are exactly the same products with just different names.

Now on REgaine liqid, flaking is still completely gone, so because of that I can say that

ROgaine and REgaine liqids are different.

Did anybody notice the difference too? So we can drop the claims that those two products are completely the same.

Any experiences with ordering from Pharmacy2u? If many people haven't notice the difference, I will get suspicious I did not get original Regaine in Regaine bottles.

Also for those claiming that Rogaine and some generic minoxidils are completely the same because of the 4 same ingredients listed on the bottle. I know that at least in my country, a company is obligated to list at least 40% of the ingredients in the product..

If you believe Rogaine and some generic are completely the same, then why don't you use/ or at least try the some generic one, it is much, much cheaper than either Rogaine/Regaine!!!

With this I am saying that I would not try any other minoxidil than Rogaine/Regaine

I switched only because they should be the same.

With this I am saying that I do not believe that Rogaine and generics are the same, even though the 4 listed main ingredients are the same.

I think there are a lot more ingredients that are not listed and are different. And those same ingredients that are listed are different by quality.

Because of this and because of shedding when switching minoxidils I would not try generic minoxidil.

I will stay on Regaine.... just want to know if there is anybody else that noticed the difference between ROgaine and REgaine liquids, so we could drop the claims that those 2 products are the same.

I was so close buying Kirkland, but a lot of people reported shedding from switching, other reported that switching to Kirkland stopped the progress and when switching back to Rogaine continued the progress.

There are really a lot of topics about this. quickly found two links(not the best examples):

Many years ago (after I had been using Rogaine for several years) I bought Equate (generic version - not sure they even still make it). I noticed two things - it crystalized on the dropper a lot faster than Rogaine and the other thing is after a month or two of using it I started shedding like crazy. I switched back to Rogaine and was again stable for years.
(I know that the scalp being used to one thing for many years could be delicate for even small changes, but still...)

Switching to Kirkland would be too much gamble for me, although it would be very nice for my pocket..

Medium - u used both? how long which one?

I've got the results... well... I contacted them on regaine.co.uk, sent the bottles,... and ever since I gave them my address, my local johnson&johnson is contacting me.

It was almost 1 month, so I sent them an e-mail asking if the results are known. Now, after 2 days my local johnson&johnson sent me an e-mail saying that they got the results and the :

ingredients are the same and the only difference was the bottle.

I dissagree with that, because the moment I switched from Rogaine to Regaine, the flaking was gone and is still gone.

I bet if I try the Rogaine I was using before I would get flaking again.

So I dont know what to think...

Is regaine only available in the Uk where rogaine is available? I am curious because I have never seen a company (if not affiliated) to blatantly try to rip off another company with the name and packaging design.

So what, you think they're lying to you?

I was going to say that you should take people's reports of differences between the EXACT SAME PRODUCT with a grain of salt, but somehow I think your opinion is set forever.

Might I add that flaking can come and go on its own. Sometimes I get irritation from minoxidil and sometimes I don't, and I've been using the same type the whole time.

They're both owned by Johnson & Johnson (not directly probably, but through subsidiaries). A separate company wouldn't be allowed to sell a similar product with such a similar name -- it's called passing off.

I have no idea why some countries use the name Regaine and some use Rogaine.

In one e-mail they said :

Regaine is the brand name used in the UK and the name Rogaine for products outside of the UK,
including the Republic of Ireland.

I don't think they are lying to me, I just find it weird.

I didn't know that. I guess it had to be coincidence then.
