Rust in the water system damaging my hair?

It is probably coincidence, but shortly after I moved to a place that has a lot of rust in the water system, I first started to notice thinning on the top of my head.

My previously very thick hair is all of the sudden thin throughout the top. I'm sure the rust in the water cannot be helping the situation. My scalp started itching around the same time, and my hair has been very dry and dull looking lately.

Is this damaging my hair or is it just coincidence?
Do they make shower heads that also act as filters?

I think its called HARD WATER the softer the water the better, hard water has more minerals I heard that dries the skin out and hair.

You have to get one of those shower head filters I guess.

or a water softner.

check your water with a water test.

We do have a water softner and I have started to buy the green bags of water-softner salt that say "rust remover" on them.

So they do make shower heads with filters on them?

I don't think rust would make a huge impact on hairloss, if at all.

This topic was just discussed recently - I didn't really read it, but here's the thread:
