S5, shedding or making it worse?

Ok, so I have been use S5 topical spironolactone and Regenpure DR shampoo now for about 9 weeks.

My hair is noticeably thinner!

My question is, is this a normal shed stage that will pass or should I stop using this stuff right now?

Has anyone had a similar experience with S5?

Please help!

Not to scare you, but I think your hair might be getting worse, especially if it's Androgenetic Alopecia and you're not on a 5-AR inhibitor. There's hardly any scientific evidence that using topical Spironolactone helps to treat Androgenetic Alopecia, and Ketoconazole alone is too weak to be a substitute as a DHT inhibitor. If you legitimately have Androgenetic Alopecia and really plan to stop it for the long term, then you'll need to take Dutasteride or Finasteride so your hair doesn't keep getting worse.

Ok, thank you Agustin, but I'm not sure if that answered my question.

I'm not asking is topical spironolactone is effective for Androgenetic Alopecia; what I need to know is if there is a possibility that S5 is having the opposite effect.

What I mean is, could S5 be making my hair fall out faster?

I have been balding for 10 years and the rate that my hair recedes has been pretty steady, but in the 9 weeks that I have been using the S5 my hair looks noticeably worse.

Thanks for any responses.

Honestly , Its very hard to say , but if you feel the rate of your hairfall is going much faster then you may want to reconsider using that or take a risk and wait to see if you get any regrowth ! I personally can't handle shedding !

Well, I guess I am stopping the S5.
I will consider this experiment a failure.
Wish I had some way to recoup some of the $100 I spent considering I have two unopened jars of this stuff.

I would like to stick with the S5, but not if it's causing my hair to thin.

That's why I was asking if anyone has experienced anything like this.

If there's a chance that I just need to ride it out before seeing results then great.

But, if S5 is NOT known for having a shedding period before results then I need to stop using it right now.

Looks we both live in the same state , You can always sell that on Ebay , there would be some people who wants to try it , I think RU58441 would be a better choice

For preventing thinning hair since its a very powerful antiandrogen , You can also try lipogaine to get your hair thicker and back and also regrowth , I've got decent result with that.

Sorry guys but you giving him pretty bad advices besides the one about finasteride and dutasteride.

I've been on topicsl spironolactone for many years and I also keep in touch with many people from this and other forums and I can tell you that there is no way s5 cream will cause any significant shedding unless someone is allergic to one of the ingrediences. I'm 100% sure about that.

Now, what is causing shedding in katokonazole in Regenpure DR shampoo. It's a tricky thing with ketokonazole. If I were him I would switch to nizoral 1% ketokonazole. Why?
Well it may sound crazy but some shampoos with keto can do slight damage. If someone told me that a few years ago I would say they are crazy but i founded out when I switched from nizoral to revita shampoo. It caused huge shed that was basically endless I was on it for 7 months expecting to have huge regrow but it didn't happened. Then when I switched to nizoral in 3 weeks I noticed my hairline getting better. Yeah I know It's weird but I also know other people who experienced it.

So in conclusion,
- s5 is not causing shed unless you are allergic ( it would show in redness of the skin, extreame itching etc)
It is mild 5-AR inhibitor. Search this forum I think it was Bryan who posted a few studies proving it.
- switch to nizoral 1% keto shampoo, use it only 3 times a week with good conditioner.

S5 cream is sticky and yucky it's probably making your hair stick together making it look less dense . I've been using s5 cream for a long time and I think it works well however I do think you should include minoxidil . Why don't you combine the s5 with finasteride ? Ignore all the scare stories finasteride is very safe

If s5 is making your hair sticky you are probably applying too much. All you need is thin layer which is almost invisible. It's absorbed pretty quickly without leaving greasiness.
When applying it get it in the skin not on the hair.

It's common that when you use new hair loss shampoos and products that you go through that shedding phase that can last up to 3 months. I would definitely check into it before coming to conclusions.

Yes ketokonazole, minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride, RU will cause she's but I don't know anyone who claimed that Topical spironolactone caused him shed and I've been on hairloss forum quite some time.
