I'm considering going back on finasteride. I did a blood check 2 weeks ago and I got the results. I have unusually high testosterone at 1100 ng/dl. The range for 17 year olds is 300-1200 or something. I was told that examining DHT is more difficult so I don't know about mine. I took one pill of finasteride 2 1/2 months ago and my balls instantly started aching during the next 5 days. Since then, I've suspected persistent side effects like headache, libido loss, depression etc. a la PFS but that's off the table for now. My dermatologist downplayed it, saying that it's technically in the normal range, but I'm not sure if my testosterone is a result of finasteride or pfs. I had done a blood check at another derm before taking finasteride but I haven't been able to get it touch yet.

In any case, doesn't finasteride increase testosterone (as a result of decreasing DHT)?

Had the same experience as you, ball ache etc. That went away though. Got side effects after 1 year. In the end it's playing russian roulette with your endocrine system.

Funny how a single pill I took on a whim due to what might've been only a mature hairline might've caused a slew of terrible irreversible symptoms. I cope nowadays by shifting the blame from finasteride, but I feel like I'm a shell of myself prior to taking it more than 2 months ago. It all falls into place too. My dick went all rubbery with no morning wood or spontaneous erections, these headaches along with tension and felt oxygen deprivation set in, and depression and suicidal ideation. I've been told to keep a diary about the symptoms and holy crap does suicide come up often. No clue why this drug is still allowed to circulate, honestly.
