Scalp biopsies

Well I have to say although I'm not happy with my results, I'd highly recommend scalp biopsies for those who cannot determine what kind of hairloss they're suffering from. Now I know I have Androgenetic Alopecia, and can stop wishing it would be Telogen Effluvium or something else. I don't feel very hopeful about treatments..... but I am glad that I KNOW what is going on now.

Sorry, Sad Mom that the good news was that now you know. I know you were hoping for better results. Esp. 'cause they say FPB is slow. Well, I read at keratin.com that sometimes it happens rather quickly.
What are your plans now? I hope you are gonna hang around with us?

My doctor hasn't brought up the subject yet, an neither will I! I know it started out Telogen Effluvium, but I wouldn't be at all surpised if some of it turned into Androgenetic Alopecia. The shedding is really letting up again, so I'll just wait and see.
I do not see Rogaine in my future. :freaked:

I'm sure I'll be around. I've heard FPB goes rather slowly too. But doesn't seem to be true in my case, it's been quite rapid. It is slowing down from about 120 a day, to 70-80 in the past 3 weeks. Not slow enough! I do see some new regrowth too, but not nearly enough to really improve the density.

I'll be looking into what I can do about the PCOS that might have a positive effect on my hair, since I don't see Rogaine and spironolactone in my near future at least. I might consider those after I'm done with babies, but don't see how to manage both as they aren't compatible.

I guess all I can really hope for is this. That my hairloss will at least SLOW DOWN. That if I get pregnant it will stimulate regrowth, since I'm losing for horomonal reasons. And that I can find something to take right afterwards that will help me hang on to what I gained. Don't know if that's even possible. But it's the only hope I've got left.
