I am about 5 weeks Post OP and had a question on the scar. I was just looking at mine in the mirror and noticed its red colored. Is this bad or is this because its still not healed since im only 5 weeks out. One thing i like is that its small and not very wide and it almost seems like hair is growing out of it.

At 5 weeks, the redness is normal. It will be healing for several months.

Definitely. Avoid anything that could cause inflammation in that area-- working out, sweating, etc.

I dont work out because i was told that could stretch it out. Right now this is the hardest thing to cope with because i love to workout. I do however do cardio, i was told light cardio is ok. Not sure what light is but i dont get insane on the cardio machines but i do get my heart rate up, hope this isnt a problem.

T Peter,

Just take brief, regular walks for about another month. Dont do ANY heavy lifting. You do not want to risk losing the plugs. Its time to chill for a bit. You can pump iron (I do) the rest of your life, but if you lose some of the plugs due to it now......you dont grow more donor hair. That would be a pitiful waste.

So you think using the cardio machines at my gym are bad? and to take walks?

You are not going to lose any "plugs", i.e. grafts after 5 weeks. You can go as hard as you want on cardio. On the other hand, heavy lifting or anything that could strain the donar strip should be avoided for a while longer.

Gorpy is correct, you won't lose any grafts at 5 weeks post-op. Sometimes the redness can linger for up to a year. Definitely no sit-ups or any activity that can cause or promote tension in the donor area. Happy growth to you!
