almost 1 year on 1mg finasteride.. 11 months and 2 wks to be precise. i was shedding hair throughout this time, it didnt decrease the slightest. But now that summers here i'm shedding loads and loads! i take my hand through my hair and pull out at least 10 - 15 long thick hair in a go..another thing i'm noticing is i'm losing ALOT of long vellus hair! sometimes upto 3 inch long vellus...i didnt even know they grew that long.. i started finasteride last year around this time too when my shed suddenly increased towards summer..

anybody else here go through seasonal sheds?.. my shedding throughout the year didnt thin out my hair that much but these seasonal sheds do take their toll, i just cant manage my hair anymore, the top feels way too thin everytime i wash..and the right side of the head is thinner than the left.

to tell you the truth..last year when my shed got worse.. i thought i had wasted a year of my life because i had done terribly in my exams, i used to sit around in my room and mope over what had happened cause i thought i'd flunked. so it was either that or a seasonal shed since lots of my friends who dont have male pattern baldness lose a bit more hair come summer time.. a girl i know told me she was losing at least a hundred hair all of a sudden..

this year.. i had a very very bad breakup with my girlfriend of 5 years about a month ago...on top of that i've been stressed out quite bad due to my exams.. have one more to go... even though i dont think the stress from the breakup had anything to do with it, cause as we broke it off right in the middle of my exams, i tried to keep myself busy studying and not think of it much.. it'll pretty much kick in once my exams are done with so i dont believe the stress from that increased my shed.. maybe the exam stress. *shrugs*..

and yes, even though i dont stay up studying at night, the stress from exams has contributed towards a disturbed sleeping pattern where i wake up in the middle of the night a few times and feel sleepy in the morning when i awake.

but i thought lots of people went through seasonal sheds?..

There is a seasonnal shed. I am experiencing the same thing as you. The shedding as stopped though as of now. Was looking at my fontline this morning and see lots of new hair of 1/8 long. So i am sure within 2 month my hair should look the same as 2 month ago.

Good luck.
