Hi guys,

Like probably everyone on here, I am suffering from male pattern baldness and the really negative psychological side effects that come with it. I had really ridiculously thick hair growing up (hairdressers would say it was the thickest they had seen) and probably around the age of 21 I really started to notice it. I'm sure I was losing my hair before that, but I guess I just didn't notice it. I've recently started taking Propecia, I've had 23 days worth so far, but I really want to add a Minoxidil? (think I spelled that right) foam or liquid and Nizoral to my treatment as well (I always had dandruff and I've heard Nizoral is great for the scalp). I really just want a few opinions on what you guys think my chances are of actually regrowing hair in places where, let's be honest, it's hanging on by a thread/completely gone (ie the front of my hairline), and also whether my old hairline will return if I keep up the regime. I would give propecia a try on its own for at least a year. chances are you will stop your hairloss and maybe thicken up a bit you can always add minoxidil at a later date. If you start both treatments now and get results its impossible to tell which one to attribute them to.

Thanks! I'm mostly just worried about the sexual side effects of the Propecia as I've already had one awkward moment. I have two other quick questions, what is the best available Minoxidil treatment available in everyone's opinions? And I know this is going to sound really stupid, but I know the main purpose of Propecia/any Finasteride (?) product is to stop the hormones causing hair loss, so with that in mind, is it possible to actually stop the cause of hair loss with just a Minoxidil product? Or will it just thicken existing hair

minoxidil does nothing to tackle DHT the main cause of male pattern baldness take a look at the sticky written by rawtashk everything you need to know is in there.
