Seven Year Update

Its been seven years since I first started freaking out about my hairloss. Back in 2003 I was a very active user here, desperatly looking at all solutions and ultimately spending a few thousand dollars on various products. I tried Propecia, Rogain, Folligen Spray, LaserComb, Emu Oil, and other various creams and treatments.

I was sure that by 34 (my age now) I would be one bald motherfucker.

When I think back to all the money and time I spent worrying about my hair, I realize I could have saved so much pain and agony by knowing what I know now.

I am a diffuse thinner, not a receder. These days, my hair is still thin at the temples. I keep my hair short because it is thin and that makes it harder to tell. And sure, nobody mistakes me for being 22 anymore.

BUT

I LOVE my hair! Despite whats lost, it looks great, and it has not gotten noticeably worse in these seven years (most of the damage was done before that).

What do I owe it do? Without a doubt, hands down, FINASTERIDE. It is the ONLY product I use, and heres the thing, I do not even use it that much! I take a 1mg pill once or twice a week, and thats it! That is all I need to maintain a healthy, sexy head of hair! There is zero impact on my sex drive (I'm more of a stud than ever), its cheap, and I don't ever sweat if I take it or not. If I go weeks without, my scalp becomes irritated, serving as a reminder to be more diligent.

So my advice to the newbies is,, don't overdo it! If the loss is not too agressive, maybe all you need is a little finasteride to tip the balance in the right direction, and you're worry free.

Heres my hairline today, after 10 years of hairloss. Again, most damage was done before I started treatment. At this rate, I expect to have a nice head of hair well into old age.

Thanks for your post man. Your hair looks really good, and I'd be more than happy to have your hair in my thirties. I think you're right as well. People see a bit of recession and freak out thinking they're gonna be bald in two years. The truth is, balding is an EXTREMELY slow process, which takes years and years to progress.

I agree with you on the finasteride dosage as well. At the very least, finasteride a couple of times a week is A LOT better than no finasteride at all, and will probably save you sides as well.

I'd love to see more posts by people who have been treating hair loss for 5 years or more, rather than a couple of months.

excellent hair yeah id be happy with that im 33, and been on big 3 past 3 years but you have alot more thicker hair in the middle which is good since it mask your hair loss well, otherwise we got similar hair loss !

hopefully it stays like that for the next 30 years :)

Shave your head or get a toupee

Mini and finasteride made you have thick sides.

If I only had your attitude, my life would be so much better. I think your positive attitude about your hair is very commendable. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm. I have less loss than you do and I am ten years older and I HATE what is happening to my hair. Its going gray and diffusely thinning too. Most of my loss was AFTER I started finasteride. Unfortunately, I would love the freedom not to worry about any topicals like you have but I feel I need to fight this battle with as much arsenal as I can. After reading your post, you have helped me appreciate my situation more. Its nice to have positive posters come back and show life can be simple if you appreciate what you have been dealt. I hope someday I can share your same thoughts and enthusiasm.
