Thanks. I do not mean to minimize your suffering, or that of anyone else, I just didn't understand how finasteride can cause long-term damage. Again, with steroids, the only long-term effects that I know of (*heart problems, joint problems, kidneys, etc) were problems that clearly arise WHILE taking the drug (if you are going to experience them). I have not heard of people going off steroids who have any long-term problems that were NOT already a problem while they were cycling. Obviously, the two drugs are different and operate differently on the body.

Does HGH or T replacement permanently cure the problem, or do you have to have a patch or injections routinely in order to counter-act the side-effects of finasteride? In other words, can drug therapy work to correct the problem, long-term as well as it created the problem, in both cases, neither (finasteride or T nor HGH) needing to be taken forever to see results?

I have seen your posts for a long time Hair McNair..and I am sorry about your "loss" as it were. Have you had ANY luck? Not to be crude, but have you EVER sucessfully gotten it up since getting off finasteride? or had a noticeable gain in drive?

I'm very disappointed with how this new poster was treated.

A. you dont know his situation
B. how dare you guys make fun of this

NO ONE here is a scientist that knows every potential problem that goes along with powerful horomone-altering drugs like finasteride. No one knows how to cure male pattern baldness, and I'm sure as hell people don't know the true effects of the pills they are taking to cure the INCURABLE problem.

Serious male pattern baldness treatments have only been around for the last 15 years, which put it at an infantile stage. Taking a pill like finasteride for many of us here is our last resort. Hell, I wouldn't go 2 feet near the stuff if I wasn't in my current situation. FinSides decided to take the pill and is suffering from some sh*t you guys should pray you never have to experience.

The bashing in the earlier posts in this thread INFURIATED me because of how hypocritical this "support" group is supposed to act. Change the attitudes please... we're all here to help one another.

Why is it that everyone who wholeheartedy enthusiastically agrees with the original poster .... all have 14 or less posts and signed up around the same time?

Guys ... Im aware of your Yahoo group and you have a right to have it. There is no doubt that some guys have hypersensitive reactions to finasteride... but let your statement stand on its own. Don't have a bunch of supporters sign up and pretend to be random consumers who accidentally came across this thread, only to chime in and agree.

Just state your case and let it stand.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Long-term problems from finasteride ARE caused while taking the drug. The only difference is the exact mechanism remains a mystery, ie. it's not know exactly what has been damaged while taking the medication.

You mentioned steroids. In addition to the problems you mentioned, steroids can suppress the HPTA causing gyno, sexual problems, depression, fatigue, etc. Interestingly, these are the same problems that are reported by individuals with long-term problems from finasteride use, which is why a lot of the doctors who have treated these problems believe that finasteride might be causing long-term HPTA suppression in these individuals. In fact, the drugs used to treat long-term finasteride problems are the same as those that are used by bodybuilders to restore the HPTA following a cycle.

I've heard from my doctor (Shippen) that some of his patients were eventually able to go off of T replacement and HCG, so they were fully recovered. Other doctors have had similar success. Some guys, however, need to stay on meds the rest of their lives. Other guys have had no success at all. So the results are all over the place.

I haven't seen any lasting results yet. I'm still working on it. I go through short periods of time where I feel much better, but not 100% back to normal. Most of the time, however, the problems are pretty severe.
