I was thinking about shaving my head so I went out and bought a hair trimmer. Trying to gather up the nerve to actually use it now. What do you guys think?

It came with a bunch of attachments, I was thinking of a 2 guard...

Here's what my hair looks like, taken on Dec 18, but it hasn't changed much since:

^ Your diffuse thinning is similiar to mine just a bit more advanced.

I'm 27 and I jumped on Propecia as soon as I noticed the thinning.

Shave your head, you'll feel good afterwards trust me!

It feels great. (My hair was shaved in the Air Force, so this wasn't 'hard' for me to do... but for awhile I had shoulder length hair).

You'll look tougher, shave it.

Do it. Shave it with a razor if you're brave enough. It's very liberating.

Its been a year since I had my head shaved. I received compliments of bad and good. More good then bad. Shaved it with a eletric razor then used a razor to get it to the skin. Also when your done shaving be sure to scrub with a Loaf pad of some sort. This keeps your mug from gettin ingrown hairs.

Benefits - Dont have to worry about styling your shiznit. Which is good for
waking up late. Maintence free. Cept your hair growing juice.

- Depending upon ur face , can make you look badass.

- Find out that alot of chix will like that look. You will be suprised.

Downside - Peeps may think your a gansta or a skinhead neo Nazi.

- Girls may think your really bald

- You will shave your head and realize damn wtf I do that for
I look fugazy.

Pce Brian

comes from shaving my head at least a dozen times since I was 25.

** Thinking of shaving it come spring time :D

Hair length

To IwantMyhair,

Excuse me, you are currently in month 6 with propecia, as soon as you noticed the thinning.
Before Air Force you had shoulder length hair awhile. When you shave your head? When you joined to the Air Force? Could be coincident the beginning of your baldness and shaving the head?

In Spain there is a lot of commentaries about develop baldness and the military service time. People with long hair seem develop baldness easily. According to my theory (http://www.againstalopeciaandbaldness.com) the initial cause of common baldness is problems with the sebum flow. Hair length is vital in this process.

Hey Ive read your theory. Its very interesting but do you have any proof? I mean, people with long hair still go bald don't they? And women with short hair don't develop the typical horseshoe balding pattern do they?

Armando, thats really a nice website. I like it - definately worth reading ... though I can't agree with the theory.

Thats a hypothesis.. which most of the time in incorrect. The difference between that theory and the conjectures made by participants in this forum is that the former is elgantly written and got published in some journal.
The whole point about that paper is getting rid of sebum which it claims is difficult for people with short hair and as a consequence suffer from hair loss. Well... we can either wipe the top of our head with a tissue every hour or sleep with our pillows contacting the top of our head .. and see if that works.

SMudge...i guarantee you nobody thinks your balding. If that was the picture of the back of your head and NOT on a hairloss website no one would have known. You look like you still have a lot of hair and certainly enough for anyone not in the same boat to notice ANYTHING. When i see some movies a second time, i notice that i never noticed that these people were bald or losing hair the first time I saw them. The mind is a powerful thing and yours might be tricking you into thinking that you have less hair than you actually do. I'd keep it if i had that much. GOod luck

Forgive me for being confusing in my previous posts.

1) I am currently 27 and in my 6th month of Propecia, yes. Before joining the Air Force in 1996, my hair was normal men's haircut lengths. Never too long.

2) I was in the Air Force from 1996 - 2000. During that time my head went from shaved style (#1 or so), and varied to somewhat 'spiked' styles at times.

3) After getting out of the Air Force, I let my hair grow to about eyebrow length. Varying it with 'spikey' hairstyles sometimes.

4) About 1 1/2 years ago, I grew my hair to shoulder-length.. Then I cut it a few months back.. doing a regular haircut (eyebrow length). So my long hair phase didn't last too long (hassle/thinning)

5) Then I shaved it a few weeks ago. #2.

6) It is currently #2.

:D

Smudge, dry you hair and/or stop putting greasy gel in it and nobody would even know you're thinning.

Smudge: from that picture I would consider growing it out. From that original pic you posted I don't think the average person would have any clue you have any thinning. Heck I might have overlooked it and I frequent hairloss sites. You may be able to pull off some nice styles if you grow it out.

God bless,
Pete

I haven't seen the front. that makes a bigger difference than in the back.

pre supposing all is good in the front, i would not shave it. i would keep it short, but not too short. when you see too much skin, it looks kinda punkish. i think some med. brown toppik would suit you nicely back their if you're really vain into hair, like i am.

My advice would be either to grow it out and keep it with Propecia or shave it all off (as you head seems to be perfectly shaped for that) and optionally use Finasteride if you'd wish to grow it back later.

At the length it has in the latest picture, the thinning is quite noticable for anyone - but in the first picture, I wouldn't have noticed it at all if the picture had been posted somewhere else.

yeah, i'll think i'll grow it out. i'm on a regimen of the big 3, and some supplements (MSM, B-12, Fish Oil, Multivatim). I'm in month 5 now, and haven't noticed any effect of my treatment. hopefully, i'll get something before the year.

also, not sure if i want to use concealers. It seems like one step away from a hair peice.
