Shaved head - what should I use?

I have a shaved head because I have been receeding for several years and now my frontal zone is thinning obviously. I'm not looking to grow my hair becuase a shaved head suits me for the moment but do just want to stop the hair loss now before it gets worse. Also when I grow it out to a No.2/3 then it's very clear how much thinner it is at the front because my frontal zone is a much lighter tone. So a little thicker there would be nice but not expecting miracles - my dad is bald so know it's inevertable just want to reach 30 with some hair.

So what sort of regime do people suggest.

Going to start taking proscar by cutting it up - is it ok to take 1.25mg instead of 1mg because cutting it into four sounds easier then five - is this unnecessary?
Should I start using Mino and would it be better to use the foam on short hair - i know rogaine says not on a shaved head but it's not shaved just clippered to No.1. I hear a lot about shedding - would this happen on short hair?
Also should I use the shampoo that is the third part of the regime?

Any advice would be really helpful - thanks.

Honestly , I was in a similar situation to you about 1 or 2 years ago. I started taking finasteride alone and my hairloss rapidly progressed @ the temples and then at the front. I just started taking minoxidil foam (2months) and im pretty sure im thickening up at one of the temples , cant see much action on the other one but lots of Vellus hairs (tiny white ones) all over the place and some of them are over 1 cm long. I'm hoping this is signs of regrowth and they will soon turn terminal.

My advise would be to jump on the minoxidil foam right away.. I know the above post advises against this , but honestly mate if your receding at the front and temples finasteride wont do much for you there. And if your saying your dad is bald then your probably going to experience an aggressive form of balding , so best to get out the big guns ASAP.

And yeah jump on the Nizoral aswell 2% (3 times a week for 5 mins in the shower). I doubt that will do much to help you regrow but will improve your scalp condition and may help you maintain the hair.

Fingers crossed that your a responder to minoxidil and hey look on the bright side , you suit shaved head which can only be a plus if things get any worse.

I agree that you should be on the finasteride but im just saying dont expect to maintain at the temples with just finasteride alone.

Finasteride even if your still receding at the hairline still has benefit for keeping maintenance of the overall head. It's amazing my hair is so thick on top , thicker than before i started and just in general better condition too than it was before i started, but the temples are still receded. So im pretty sure finasteride is having a benefit even if your not seeing it at the temples.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the advice - It's always good to hear personal stories because there is so much claimed by the companies like Rogaine that's hard to know what to believe.
I'm going to do some more research and start either 1 or both the treatments soon. I do like the idea of waiting with Rogaine because treatment doesn't work with everyone and it would be nice to see which (if either) work for me - however its nice to hear from belowzero that it's making your hair thicker, that sounds promising. Also I will get onto the shampoo asap as it can't hurt right?
I'll try to post regularly to say how it is going.
And yeah you're right about suiting a shaved head, that's what my friends say but then it's easy for them with a full head of hair - they just don't understand!
Anyway cheers again,
