Shaved My Head. Mature Hairline Or Time To Get On Big 3?

Could my hairline just be maturing or is that simply a coping mechanism to deny male pattern baldness?

My hairline used to be completely straight with a small widow's peak and now it's U shaped. Will minoxidil + finasteride help me recover what I've lost?

For reference (all with flash):

how do you print screen

Jesus Christ, you have more density on top than the sides lmao. But nah man, your crown does look thinner but that may actually be normal. Do you have pics of your crown with longer hair? Hairline seems fine

I just don't want my hairline to recede more than it already has. I used to have no temple recession.

I have a visible whorl at the crown when its longer as shown here:

Keep an eye on it, not because I think you are losing your hair, but because you are a man and noone knows what will happen in the future in regards to their hair. You have insane density and a very good hairline. I don't like pushing around the mature hairline myth too much but its hard to call it recession. If you have noticed changes on your hairline perhaps its due to skull growth. You are Norwood one and have an extremely desirable hairline for any man of any age. Take pictures every 6 months with a shaved head at the same length. Closely compare the very corners of the hairline and try to take not of any changes. I recommend not getting on medications.

It looks like a very good head of hair to me.
I would monitor it if I was you but try not to worry and enjoy life.
As you have stated there are several treatments you can use at a later date if necessary but not for now imo be happy . : )

i may have good density, but the fact remains my temples have been receding. im hoping its just a "mature" hairline that people speak of. for now I will not get on meds and just monitor it monthly. thanks all.

should these thin hairs along my temples be worrisome?

Those "thin hairs" on your hairline you are talking about are not really thin hairs. They are short strands of hairs that can only grow to a certain length. Its sometimes called transitional hair or more commonly, baby hair. That has nothing to do with balding. a lot of people, including women have them along their hairline. Look up Rhianna, or Kim Kardashian, for example. They have a crap load of it. Baby hairs are just hairs that never fully developed into full terminal hairs when you were growing. Most men don't notice them until they reach their 20s or 30s, because they start examining their hairlines a lot closer. Pay no mind to that. Baby hairs are completely different than miniaturized AKA thinning hairs. Miniaturized hairs grow normal length, but are much, much thinner than regular hair in terms of diameter, and lose pigmentation, looking almost clear. They eventually fall off because of the DHT that is "choking them". That's how you go bald.

Your temples don't look receded either. If they were receded, they would certainly be bulged in towards the center of your sides; kinda like a sideways "U". Yours still look perfectly straight, but slanted. Which is good. That's what gives you the strong temple points that you have. Look up David Beckham's hairline. His receded temples are the prime example of a matured hairline. If you are more referring to the corner of your hairline between the top of your temples and front-top, they do seem thinner when your hair is buzzed, yes. But believe it or not, that is also normal. Those corners are the second thinnest areas on a person's scalp, right after the little whirl on the back of the scalp, which is typically completely hairless in its center for most people with normal hair. You also seem to be freaking out about that whirl, which you shouldn't be. My 8 year old cousin has the same exact hairline and hair features as you when he is buzzed... And he's not balding.

Tbh, you seem to be over-examining your scalp and hairline, bro. You are at the stage in your life where you are being paranoid about your hair. Trust me, I was there, also. but after a year of irrational worry and constant over-examination, I realized that I wasted much of my time and energy worrying about nothing. Now I try to help others like me. I am also an incoming medical student with a few dermatologists in my family btw, so I am confident in what I say, due to my extensive study and research in this field/topic.

If you are still worried, go see a dermatologist or hair-loss specialist. They will tell you for sure. Do not waste your energy worrying about something like this.

Hope this helped.
