I'm already an insecure guy and getting bald would devastate me , my hair is one of the very few things I do like about myself. Right now when I'm in the shower I get much more shedding from the top of my head than on the sides and back. I'm 21 years old and my dad has pattern baldness and my brother diffuse baldness. So I think there is a very high chance I will get bald too. I mean if my brother and dad are bald and on wikipedia it says 70 procent of men will lose their hair at some point in their lives, so why would I keep it?
So I want to use finasteride. I have a full head of hair as of now but I don't want to risk losing any that can't be reversed. On the back and sides my hair is also much thicker. These are good signs of balding? I know finasteride has side effects, but can't I do blood test and see how my hormone levels stack up before and after finasteride? Wouldn't that make it more safe so I can stop in time?

Edit: also trimming my whole head 5 millimeters would allow me to see the balding progress much claerer right?
