T4: 1.0
T3: 3.0
TSH: 6.5

I have a question, your TSH is 6.5 which isn't hugely outside the reference range is it?

Mine was 3.9 in March, up from 3.3 6 months prior to it. I have a retest in September as they're keeping an eye on it because that is also technically just outside the reference range, like barely but still.

I seem to be getting diffuse thinning at the moment but all the hairs are miniaturised, are the hairs you're shedding from thyroid also miniaturised or normal, thick looking hairs?

My numbers were never hugely out of range, but I was feeling very symptomatic. Your doctor should be using your lab numbers AND your symptoms to make a decision on whether or not you're hypothyroid. Do you feel extreme fatigue? Mental confusion? Feel cold? Gaining weight?

I have none of the symptoms, they're just watching it because it's been slowly going up. They said I could just naturally be out the normal range though.

Tell me about the thickness of the hairs you're shedding though. Normal or miniaturised? Is there any evidence that thyroid issues cause hairs to miniaturise?

Thyroid hormones don't miniaturized hair. Insufficient T4 and T3 would make your hair dry, thin (diffusely) and weak. When I was shedding it was a bunch of thick hair. Since I'm properly medicated and on rogaine my hair has looked 10 times better since I began
