Hi guys, i recently noticed my hair being slighly uneven at the back of head, so i decided to shave it off today and inspect crown. It looks bad to me. Ive never seen this before, and ive just turned 18...

Should I be worried? Do you think i need to take action now?

Thanks

It's hard to tell since your hair is really short so you can see the scalp everywhere and it seems like you're sitting under a light which makes everybody's hair thin.

Have you been noticing increased hair falling out randomly and in the shower? I noticed an increase in hair falling and getting stuck between the keys of my keyboard for a couple years. Didn't connect it to hair loss since I still "looked fine" in the mirror. Of course, you have to be losing for a while in order for it to look thin.

I would monitor it but if you have been seeing a lot more hair fall out I would consider consulting a doctor. Not sure if you're too young to start finasteride. but it could save your hair for the next decade.

Thank you for the reply jl8490. No I havent noticed any hair falling out actually, which seems strange since it looks like ive completely thinned out at the back of my head... But of course your right, the light will make it look worse than it might actually be. I will take another picture tomorrow.

Even growing it out longer will not necessarily give you the answer you want, take a look at my thread:

I posted a similar question but with long hair and it just resulted in people arguing between themselves. The flash on a camera is always going to show a white area. My advice is to look through family history, if there's a high probability of baldness then the earlier you get on a DHT blocker such as Propecia the better. I started on Pro over 2 years ago and definitely had some regrowth, the key is to start early before its too late.
