I was using Rogaine 1 ml/day for 5 months 6 years ago.I had no success, with the last 4 months of the treatment passing by with tremendous shedding. The main reason I quit though are the side effects.
I got black circles under my eyes, face swelling plus 1/3 of the time I used it I got dizziness and heart racing.I have to add here that this was the only treatment I used at that time and it was prescribed by a derm.
Anyway 6 years forward and with more need for regrowth i' m thinking to give it a second try.
The things i' d like to ask are ,
Do u believe that the first time the results where bad because I used half the dosage and didn't give at least a year ?
Should I give it one more chance although I got almost every side effect on the book ?

Patrik at the time I didn't notice any recession of the hairline or any other change on the texture of my hair ,although I didn't take any pics to be sure.

The things i noticed were massive shedding (I was wearing my hair long at the time and it was more painful to see clumps of hair falling) and changing of the appearance of my face.I remember the day I quit ,it was before the application and just looked my face on the mirror.A 21 year old looking at wrinkles on his forehead, black eyes and a bloated face like he gained a couple of pounds on the face alone. The next thing I did I threw the Rogaine bottle in the bin.

thats exactly what happened to me. I guess if you are diffused you have to apply it all over and you could get a bad reaction.

I had pretty dark circles and wrinkles but most of it has cleared after I quit.

Could be, but do you really fancy using twice as much given the side effects last time?

How about adding an SOD or copper peptide thingymajig?

Edit: I'm assuming you're already on finasteride. No info. in your regimen box.

No, right now I'm on topical Fluridil and internal phytosterols .I know, a very light approach but I tried to avoid chemicals after the minoxidil-scare.

? was very happy with the results I got from Fluridil with no side effects, but now i think that I'm on a plateau and the ride starts to go down.

I've thought about SODs but I read mix results from the forums.

Do you believe that SODs or copper peptide will make a significant difference ?

I suppose that depends on what one considers to be significant. Do I believe the addition of SODs/CPs will rival Finasteride for results...... no. But if you're steering clear of finasteride. - and I don't see that your bad experience with minoxidil should necessarily prompt this - then obviously your options are narrowed somewhat.

Trying to think what you could add besides SODs/CPs if finasteride. is a no go.... spironolactone?

Ah, but what treatment hasn't attracted mixed reviews? If only I'd started on Prox-N several months earlier, then I could give you my own take on its efficacy.

Sorry, not being much help here.
