Should I just give up and shave my head at this point?

I'm 24 and have bad hair loss already. I have a pretty major bald spot on my crown and it's extremely noticeable. My hair line is also receding, though this isn't really that hard to hide because my hair is pretty long right now and my bangs stretch out far enough to make it hard to see. I've tried minoxidil + biotin for months to try and get my crown to grow back and it's not working at all. My hair is black so that makes it even worse -- it's extremely easy to see. I've always thought I'd look horrible with my head shaved but I'm not really sure if I even have any other options at this point. What if I get it shaved super short -- like a #1? Would the balding still be easy to see/would my hairline be even more noticeable then or should I just go all the way? I really don't want to be so bald that I look like Mr. Clean but I'd still prefer that or having a giant bald patch on my head

How many months exactly on minoxidil?

finasteride is all you need.

Finasteride is your best option. Try it for a year(sometimes even longer) before making a final judgement. Too early IMO to consider shaving, but that is just me. If you want to give it a try then go for it. Who knows you may like the way it looks?

You haven't lost much hair at all. I would just use finasteride. For me I used finasteride early on like in your case and had a full recovery. Then after 8 years I quit and it took over 2 years for it to start losing ground again. I basically lasted 10 years of keeping my hair for only 8 years of taking finasteride. Pretty good deal. Whereas minoxidil while it kept my hair, as soon as I quit it my hair became worse than what it was before I started it in a matter of 2 weeks! Minoxidil you literally have to take the rest of your life! Same for finasteride but it's not as extreme and there are less reprecussions. That being said everyone reacts different to the meds. My hair is too far gone to be saved at this point and I will not be taking treatments. If I were you I would get a prescription ASAP and try the drug out. You could be sporting a full head of hair for years to come if you do. Otherwise you have to accept going bald years before your young party years are up. Granted with the right attitude and ability to grow a beard you might be ok with the bald look?
