Should I Move Onto Something Stronger Than Finasteride?

I've been on Finasteride for 4 months and 9 days and I'm still noticing increased shedding and it doesn't need to stabilise, is it still possible that this shed is still happening so that more hair can regrow. Or have I been shedding too long now for that to be possible and Finasteride simply isn't strong enough to stop my Hairloss. if so any advice. Just if finasteride really isn't working there's no point in wasting much more time because I want best results. I'm around a norwood but the frontal mid and scalp parts of my head have thinned quite a lot Specially my frontal area. So I can't afford to waste much time I need to save as much hair as possible now before it becomes too late and I get a bald patch

I had constant sheds and irritated scalp on finasteride for a year..jumped to dutasteride going on 4 months now and doing much better..time to move up to the big guns.

Ugh I feel like I'm in the same fkn boat, been back on finasteride since sep 5 and my hair just keeps getting thinner.

I really don't wanna start using dutasteride

Do you think just over 4 months is enough to know? Some say you shed for months then at a years time you get regrowth

I would give it a year and see if things calm down for you. You should notice better hair quality, darkening and thickness of hairs that shed...in the beginning I was shedding a lot of unpigmented bad qualities hairs on finasteride.

Could you tell me more about Dutasteride, is it as cheap as finasteride, how much more effective. Have you suffered side effects off either? what is the dose required?

Alright, just if it wasn't working now. I don't want another 8 months of hairloss. It's more to find out if the shedding is a result of the actual hair regrowth process or if it is just simply the thinning progressing worse and worse

It's a bit more expensive I pay $20 a month supply. 1 pill a day it's a liquicap type pill think .5 milligrams in a pill. I haven't noticed bad sides though I feel more aggressive and more easily irritable..wake up with bloodshot eyes which I'm just assuming is from dutasteride but who knows. As far as effectiveness it's the most potent med that I know of for hair loss.

Well I don't get wood popping up as often but think it's a fair trade off and my nips on some days are sensitive but nothing I can't deal with. I think with this medication the more active you can be as far as working out, watching your diet and such you will be much better off..

Did you notice any improvement at all on finasteride?
Yes my hair got much darker which I guess is the shaft of the hair getting thicker but I would get painful ingrown hairs/zits on my scalp and that's when I would notice shedding.

How long did it take to stop shedding and start improving?

Once I stopped finasteride I stopped most shedding. I also use nizoral shampoo..leave on in shower for like 5 min and use a stiff bristled brush and scrub my scalp with shampoo in then rinse. Once I started doing this I no longer got the ingrown hairs/zits in my scalp and things feel much healthier.

Your hair improved after you STOPPED finasteride, or the shedding stopped meaning not as good regrowth?
