posting this here due to lack of responses elsewhere

hello, i am 18 years young  i was wondering what i should do in my situation

i've always had a full head of thick, wavy hair (i still do) and don't want to lose it...

i have always had a pretty high hairline, at least for the past 2-3 years. it looks like NW2, but it has been like that since my mid- teens so i have come to believe that it's my normal hairline, or maybe i got an early "mature" hairline. my mom said i've always had a big forehead/head, which is true. the crown on top of my head still looks normal i think, pretty much like any other college guy's; a small "bald" spot is really only noticeable in a close-up picture with flash on...

recently i've noticed a bit more hair falling out than normal; probably around 15-20 per shower and throughout the day i'll usually find 1 or 2 on my computer or on my desk. when i wake up there's usually 1 or 2 on my pillow also.. is this normal?

my hairline shows small or minimal signs of receding--however in the past 4 or 5 months i've noticed my hair in front seems a bit thinner than it used to be. if i comb it, usually 0-2 hairs will come out.

i want to know if i should start doing anything about it at this point in time, or if i am being overly paranoid. i'm probably gonna start just using the nizoral shampoo for now, because i'm not happy with how much hair has been falling out......what do you guys think?? too early for rogaine??? my dad started going bald around my age and my mom's brothers both went bald in their 20s so ive basically accepted that it's going to happen, but i REAAALLY dont want it to happen this young......my hair is my best feature and i'm a freshman in college for god's sake!

*i should add that i've had fairly nasty depression for the past year or so, could this be a contributing factor?
**also i recently grew longish hair after having short hair for 3 years; every time i got it cut my haircutter would thin it out in the front, but now it has grown in long...dont know if that means anything.
**any other recommendations for hair loss this early in? either i am in the very early stages or i'm simply paranoid, but i want to get an early start if necessary

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for the reply

i was hoping to get an opinion without posting pics. if they really are necessary i'll post some. but the main question was just about the amount of hair i have been losing. as far as i can tell my hair doesnt look or feel any different than it always has, ive just noticed more falling out during the day than usual. i just took a shower and lost at least 20-25. is that a reason to be scared?

Ya need some pics man. The hair fall can really show evidence too, at least I and I'm sure other hairloss sufferers think so. I live with 2 other guys all with brown hair and can always tell which hair is mine in the bathroom. I think miniaturized hair looks different than normal shed hairs so pics will definitely help in your assessment.

The roots of hairline hairs are lighter, meaning miniaturization is happening, but obviously if you've had that for a few years it's a slow progression. If it gets any worse, get on something asap, or if you are positive you have male pattern baldness get on something now and you will keep what you have for a LONG time or even regrow more.
