ive been on finasteride for about 9 months, only issue was it was .5mg and i was not on time with my dosages most of the time, more like on and off, but for the most part i atleast took it 3-4 a week mostly. Well its helped me maintain mostly I guess, i still have thin hair on top and was wondering if its time to switch to Avodart? I have a good hair line and all, just need my hair to thicken up!

or should I stick to 1mg finasteride solid schedule for another year and see what happens?

Why don't you just try to be consistent with the recommended finasteride dosage?

when i first started it wasnt that bad so i guess i took it for granted, but now that my thinning is really kicking in, im scared shitless .

all im looking for is some thickness back, i have a nw1 hairline and i have decent amount of hair, just the thinness =[

If you say finasteride is helping you maintain then why get off ? Instead maby just up the dosage and see how you handle it ?

Keep in mind dutasteride is said to take DHT down to 90% because it inhibits both types 1 & 2. They say type 1 is the main culprit for hairloss (from research ive read) I notice you mention you're hairline, if im not mistaken finasteride is made more for the crown.

For a stronger hairline perhaps the best thing could be some sorta stimulator or even topical to try. I heard they make topical dutasteride now in a cream.

Also instead of rogain, i heard a laser comb can stimulate too [people may shoot me for that statement haha im still researching laser combs]

The reason im responding is because i think im sorta in the same boat as you.....im kinda like a diffuse thinner, but still has a decent hairline.......if i could id keep the great hairline and let the back go alittle bit. I can always fill that in with a hairtransplant later if need be. Im currently using spironolactone-cream on my hairline. Ive been doing it for the last 7 months, im just going to keep using it. Im on my quest to follow it up with another good topical like the all-might RU 58841 still waiting to break into the commercial mainstream market.

Dude, just get back on finasteride, 1 mg/day. And stay on it.
The studies don´t lie; it is still THE best hair loss prevention drug out there.

I would only go to avodart if it was the last resort.

Where did you hear that? If that is the case, finasteride (at common doses) would be completely ineffective at treating hair-loss.

Laser combs are an absolute waste of time. It's not even worth your effort to research them. They're a gimmick and nothing else

You probably wouldn't even notice the difference in side effects between .5 and 1 mg. If you are worried about side effects then stay far away from Avodart. I've tried it and it is tons stronger.
